oi, the clash is one of my favorites too. they're so.. everything! they can be gospel, blues, kinda new wavey... but the thing they're most famous for is the punk side. I heart the clash. If you like the clash you might wanna check out the specials.. they have neat accents  Grin

This is pretty damn cool. A story from Slashdot which discusses and links to a "telesymphony." Check it out. There are some audio clips on the site, too.

Audioslave sounds very promising...I hope more of their stuff comes out soon so I can get a full sampling of what they have done.

Audioslave is a band comprised of the remaining Rage Against the machine  guys with Chris Cornell as their singer.

Bronto: How do you like Pearl Jam and not Nirvana?

i like nirvana, but i like the skill/sound of pearl jam better. everyone calls pearl jam grunge because they came about the same time as nirvana, but the guitar riffs and good lyrics were what drew me more. somehow 'rape me' just doesnt work. of course, i have to like nirvana for the path they cleared etc. but i dont have to like them better then the bands they helped clear the way for. toodlez hottie.

I only read the first page then I skipped the rest, but I needed to make a post. omg ben you listen to eminem, I thought you were better than that. Eminem, pop(anything associated with pop; pop-punk;pop-rock;jock-rock a.k.a linkin park) those things i just cant stand. Unfortunatly thats all I hear on the radio these days and thats the reason my radio isnt on that much. and as for bronto and his booing, lol PoM sometimes deserves that and for all you people who listen to music to get you angry personally I dont really see the point in that.

Eminem's not for everyone... I friggin hate him except for particular songs... You should listen to these three.... They own! Honestly, I hate what I've heard from Eminem, but these 3 songs make me up for it :

Lose Yourself
The Way I am
Hailey's song

Those three own! Heh... Other Awesome bands listed from YOU MUST GET THEM NOW to they're pretty good are:

Eminem - Lose Yourself (the best)
Breakin Benjamin - Medicate, Natural Life, Home, and Polyhemorous
Audiovent - The Energy
Chevelle - The Red
Eminem, The Way I am and Hailey's song
Nirvana - Lithium
Disturbed - Remeber
TRUST Company - Downfall
Rage - Renegades of Funk
Lost Prophets -  Shinobi Vs  Dragon ninja
LNKN Park - One Step Closer and the remix cd (or so i hear about the cd)
sev- The Same Old Song

I know no one will read these, or if they do they'll dismiss them... still they're awesome songs! Especially the Audiovent Eminem Breakin Ben and Chevelle!

Ben

P.S. (Moded in) Listen to these songs all the way through... the Breaking Benjamins have awesome chorus's/endings... not so great at the start... The Energy for Audiovent owns at the start! I get into that...

Wasn't there a thread about the best cd's 2003!? Couldn'T find it anymore.

Well I just want to point out some very cool new bands and cd's going into the direction of indie/punk/rock pop.

Hot Hot Heat - Make up the breakdown (top songs: No Not now, Bandages, get in or get out, and many more) Cookie and Tasty get them!!!
Ok Go - OK Go
Athletes - several cds i.e. You got the style and vehicles and animals
Wir sind Helden - M?ssen nur wollen(german, but could be also interesting for some of you)
Underwater Circus - Not you (german rock band featuring on the Igby goes down soundtrack)

Further I rediscovered some older bands:

Jellyfish ("The Ghost at number one" is one of my favourites)
Nada Surf (didn't hear them for a long time but all in all they aren't that bad; Popular, Hyperspace, Love Inside, Bacardi...)
Pete Yorn - great moody music: Closet, Black and Life on a chain are must haves.

For all you "hardrock" fans my favourite is Orange 9mm - Lies and Alien.

Further you all have to download(isn't available for buy) A Stroke Of Genius  (Vs Christina Aguilera) Fantastic voice over and combination of indie pop with main stream vocals. Sounds fresh and cool.

Enough for today hope you enjoy my selection of indie music.

Bye,

Mauti
ps.: the best website with band descriptions is the All Music Guide, especially for all you indie pop lovers.

Nice job bringing back an old, dead topic, Mauti! Wink But anyhoo, I'll have to check out some of those bands. Which is your favorite out of all of them? I'm too lazy to look them all up.

Well Mellow I suggest to check out these 5 songs:

Hot Hot Heat - No, not now
Underwater Circus - Not you
Ok Go - Get over it
Athletes - El Salvador
Orange 9mm - When you lie (if you like hardrock)

This should give you a good overview how they sound.

Enjoy

Mauti
ps.: bringing up old topics isn't anything bad as long as they are good

My List:
Led Zeppelin - II, IV, Physical, How the West Was Won (awesome, makes Song Remains the Same sound like a bootleg played through a garden hose)
Spiritualized - Lazer Guided Melodies (think Floyd on heroin)
Jesus and Mary Chain - Munki
Elton John - Madman Across the Water (after that he got into the "I'm a pop singer" mode)
T.Rex - Electric Warrior
BRMC - Black Rebel Motorcycle Club  (why I still have faith in rock and roll)
Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
Miles Davis - Bitches Brew/Kind of Blue (his best 2 IMO)
Gram Parsons - GP/Grevious Angel   (what the Eagles wish they sounded like and what most Alt Country bands aspire to achieve)
Black Crowes - Amorica (Underrated)
Stones - Sticky Fingers
Chemical Brothers - Exit Planet Dust
Richard Wagner - Valkyre
Black Flag - Damaged III  (intense, too bad nobody today can top it)
The Charlatans UK - Self titled
ANYTHING BY the Verve
The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Pyschedelic Garage rock ala Syd Barrett/Early Stones

I'm a pretty big fan of Letum's list. Agree with a lot of that.

In Addition, everyone check out:
Dismemberment Plan - One of the coolest sounding bands ever, they just broke up and are on their farewell tour
High Llamas - really trippy sounding Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts club era sounding shit
Stone Roses - pretty cool 1980s British mod band
The Notwist - German electro band, their new album Neon Golden pwns
