People want to debate things, let them.  I know that when you feel it becomes a flame war or whatever u say "there is no more intelligent things to be said here so lets lock it".  I have seen people express good points on both sides of different arguements that became flame wars.  There ARE still osme things to be said so plz have a meeting and discuss the possibility of making another room in the *DAMN Forum so these type of arguements and debates can be held there.  Some of these arguements would probably still start up in the GG or BL rooms but they can be moved to this new room once they get shall we say a bit more...passionate...

SO what do ya think?

Anything that would not be acceptable in the General Gossip, wouldn't be acceptable at any place on the forums so creating a new forum won't fix anything.

There are to many complants agains the admins, mine being one of them.  GG is not what it should be.  simply the admins are to touchy. If you have read the forum you come across fearful messages asking to not delete/locking their post/topic.  Should it be so often? The subjects fall under the correct catigories, News, rumors, greetings, quarrels. We need to get a grip on this.  If you feel the same way, please post your opion so I and the admins know. before this topic gets is lock!!!

Well, all we do is lock/delete things we feel are inappropriate...at least we give people a great number of chances before banning them (unlike one person in power of a community cornerstone).  Feel glad that we are that nice about things...but honestly, we have a fair set of forum guidelines, it just happens that many people here break that set.  Just learn from the boundaries we are setting and I'm sure you can accomplish what you want in the forums.

we don't know what the boundaries are! the subjects fall under the correct categories.

Putting a link of someone's picture and calling them ugly isn't quarreling, it is insulting, and nowhere in the GG description does it say insulting is allowed.

Rob, you really need a good lesson on how a forum works, and I am to lazy to give it to you. Just feel luckey that you're not in a normal forum. In many larger forums, for posting things like that, you'd be gone, no warning, just gone. There is no time to waste dealing with foolish posts.

here's my 30 second lecture on how not to get a thread locked

DONT TRY TO START A FLAME WAR!

little pokes at each other are fine, but there is a line, and when that line is crossed, we will lock a thread.
the same goes for spam. if a threads original purpose has been served and all it's doing now is being a spam magnet, we're going to lock it.

The General Gossip "isn't what it used to be" because (excuse my french) all of you fucking newbies (many of the people on the forums now) have polluted it and corrupted it with your worthless trash. In the old days (remembering...) when you wanted to poke fun at people, you did so in good humor and fashion. When you wanted to bash someone, you were witty about it, you didn't go "FUCK YOU" or "U SUK."

When this forum had about 100-200 people on it, it was nice - but now it has over 450. I think over the summer this year, the forum tripled inthe number of posts, showing how much crap spews from your keyboards.

If you all posted in good taste and showed a little respect, (I think I speak for all the admins here) we wouldn't need to clamp down on the threads or posts that you guys make. But since most of the topics here have been crap, our moderation has been a byproduct.

Think about it and hopefully you understand what I am trying to say.

amen to that sin (except for the very last sentence)

does anyone remember the spam thread  that we had to put up, AND we had 8 moderators to attempt to control all that spam? over 200 posts of completly off topic shit (although anarchy did have some very funny posts, and we had smily wars, which was fun)

i highly reccomend that all  forum newbies who missed that thread go back and look at it. well over 95% of the posts in there are prime examples of what NOT to do

I see you are trying to forget that I was getting 3 times as many kills as you once you came Allies.

I wouldn't blame the problems we have had on all the newbies. There is maybe a handful of people who are causing 90% of the mess, and some of them are even guys who have been around for a while. Don't crucify everyone for the mistakes of a few.

Indeed Colin, unlike a certain sibling of yours.

Anyways, I at least didn't have a problem with your post, I just was pointing out that we don't wish to allow the things that that section would bring to the forums.

Don't you people get it? Some people can't deal with the insults or jokes we throw out on. DAMN doesn't want to lose members. Basically all this forum would be is a bunch of insults uncontroallbly thrown back and forth...

To use the famous quote
"Can't we all just get along?"

That is the thing...we shouldn't need a forum for people to insult each other because people shouldn't insult each other.  But I know that won't happen so I merely ask that you do the insults in private so they only involve two, not the whole community.

That is the thing.  I personally would've never came to these forums if it wasn't for the personal and clan attacks being thrown around here towards us.  I simply would've kept it in RS where Action Speaks Louder Than Words.  Too bad those that are consistent losers at RS(thinking they're ELITE, lol @ "thinking"), try to bring their image back up by bashing on the ones that can actually play the game.  In the end, good will overcome all evil.  Now it's time to let nature take its course...  Good will overcome ALLevil.  Wink

Arghhh... Rapid, please, for the love of all that is good and holy in the world, and for all the fuzzy little kittens, could you please refrain from turning every damned thread into a "we get picked on soo much and it sure sucks to be us but at least we know that it's all because of jealousy at our l33t skillz and has nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that we keep beating a dead horse and turning every thread into a 'we get picked on soo much....'"

Admins and others, this is why I have suggested a set of forum rules. . .

At least a set of general outlines wouldn't hurt.
