OK, my colors are currently screwed leading me to crash every time i play.  other teams unis show up as white and all objects are a featureless white. i have reinstalled twice, trashed prefs a few times, and given rs some more memory. i need help, won't be back for 3 days cuz i'm in toronto for a hockey tournament ( Angry) but if you have any brilliant ideas on how to fix what used to work... i would like them.
thanks

i had the same problem, you need to reinstall, and you might want o recalibrate your monitor.

Steps..

1 its memory. Reaqllocate less memory to RS, or if theres not enough, reallocate more...

2) its RS prefs, trash your prefs (system folder - preferences) and restart your comp after you erase trash

3) It's open gl. Trash open gl, empty trash, install open gl from the RS cd, and restart computer.

4) its pram (longshot)  restart computer holding p and r. It will reboot pram. Hold it till teh computer restarts 3 extra times...

If none of those work, ask me again...

I don't think i will buy more memory, as i am saving up for a new comp anyways... there are some very weird things happening. when i play rs just in single player, it works flawlessly... when i play over internet, it works ok sometimes. it was working well yesterday after i reinstalled but then i hosted and it's fucked...

Up the VRAM for RS...this used to happen to me and I would get mirrored walls and some rooms in the Met would have floating terrs. Either increase memory allocation with your SDRAM, or activate your VRAM and up the level...I think I used to run RS off 120 MB of RAM for effectiveness on my old p.o.s. 333iMhz iMac.

VRAM = Virtual memory

This is how you get there in OS9.

Apple Menu/Control Panels/Memory

In the middle of that window should say virtual memory on( ) off(*).

Click it to the on position and increase the memory that it shows you as having. I'd put this number around 400-500MB higher than the number it shows you. (i.e. if you have 256MB of memory installed on your machine, the number it will show you will start at 256MB)

Then go to your RS application and set the minumum memory requirement to about 125MB. Enter that same number under the preferred size. So it should read:

Suggested size: 104833K
Minimum size: 125000K
Preferred Size: 125000K

Restart your computer and try playing it...let me know what happens.
