Yeah, what did ever happen to gamescouter? I knew those guys they were cool. Oh well, maybe they got bored and mature.

GameSmith needs quite a bit of work to be good enough to want to move to. But I am willing to wait for upgrades to be done to it.

Actually, the current Mattster doesn't, while his account is in the 200s, ( Same as my first one ), it was created by his father, not by him.

Changed my internet connection, so I lost
cbyrnes@ptialasa.com
, or whatever it was and became accounts with just alaska.com, my ISP has an agreement with alaska.com, which is actually a big tourist site I guess. In this time I also got a new computer, and account 9551.

MacGamer reports:
"Perhaps one of the most interesting products from Freeverse is a new spin on something they've been doing for years: GameSmith. Using their HMS Freeverse technology, they'll be expanding the online game matching service to include tons of non-Freeverse games, and will evolve the application iTz?lf to have a whole new life as GameSmith. The interface will be revitalized with easy skinning technology (all the themes are stored in an XML file, so modifying the interface isn't difficult at all), and players will have extensive rankings and ladders through which to keep an eye on their progress (and each other). There will even be support for clans and teams. GameSmith has already launched and expansions (which will include Windows functionality and a fuller complement of non-Freeverse games) will be brought into play shortly."
Obviously GameSmith is far away from release and if they can realize all those ideas we could get an interesting product. At the moment it ONLY SUCKS. They also should change the whole interface and rework the user database structure.

Whoever said that Gameranger sucked in the beginning was right. It was really boring and the only games there were things like Stratego, A-Hole, etc.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure there weren't accounts in the very first beta stage, since I never had to register when I first tried it out back in early 98 or 97..

How 'bout everyone stops ragging on GameSmith and give it a year... See what happens. Gameranger couldn't have started with all the features it has now. Let gamesmith build on itself, THEN make your judgements...

I do belive that in the beta stages there were no accounts, you are correct. I would agree with what Ben said, give Gamesmith time, it takes a lot of work to do things like that, most of you guys came into GameRanger after it became good, but belive me, it's not always been like that.

Typhy and Ben, Gamesmith has been worked on and out longer than Gameranger just to let you know. Also Typhy, I don't know what you are doing with all of the different fonts, but don't use mine.

Hazard commented on the same thing, don't worry about it, I was just trying somthing out. Also, what the hell are you talking about? GameRanger origonaly started in 1996, the first beta was released in 1997, I am not sure, but I do belive this is how it went. Please explain youself.

Cool! I took a look at it and joined their mailing list...it seems promising...
What is it that keeps stunting all these potential alternatives though?
