Aggression or Dead

WWW
« on: May 23, 2001, 07:34:24 pm »

When me and Day we were playing HK with Jester and Headhunter tonight a message popped up like a team communication, except nobody playing typed it.
It said "  will lag the game", then Jester lost his connection. I was hosting and never booted anyone.
Has anyone else ever come across this?

What happened was someone was joining the game. Coco modified the String Text so yu would see different messages. You probably saw this:

//----------------------- SHERMAN NETWORKING ----------------------

SNET_CONNECT            " is going to lag the game"
SNET_DISCONNECT            " has disconnected"

Jester simply lost connection.

i just love modifying string text. for example, "picking lock" is now "removing panties"

Yeh Al, told you it was the mod. Weird thing was that I saw it again yesterday, but we only have Jester's Alpha Group activated (Al's server). Does the ITD mod overwrite the default texts so that it appears even if the mod is activated or not, or was it just some bug (I had ITD activated before joining the server, but it should automatically deactivate since the host didn't use it)?

Anyway, I did notice a lot of modded text, yes. Nice job Smiley

Tongue Embarrassed (just had to try these...)

If it's active on your machine the string text will be there, unless there's another mod with modified string text, then it's a toss up between the 2. Nothing is ever overwritten!!! Wink

Yeh, but last night we weren't using the ITD mod, Al (host) only had Alpha Group activated and we still saw the message.

That is very strange, but definitely all RS files are untouched. Everything is in the mod folder. Roll Eyes

Shocked
I think what happens is that RS/UO uses the last String file when starting a new game until a new one is found. I have had the same thing happen, but when I switch to a different mod I no longer see those messages.
