Well kiddies, Tac Mod is chugging along as you have seen on the page, it's taking longer than the others because I am spending that extra time making textures for these tac-ed out guns.

I am trying to accessorize almost every one with real life accessories, mainly tactical mounting rails, foregrips, etc... I locate pics of the actual parts, then recreate them in the textures, as usually it's impossible to find a pic that's useable. That actually takes more time than the model! For example, did you know Knights armament makes rail interface systems for the HK g3 and 33 series? Also the mp5's? well after tac mod, you'll see exactly what I mean! We have searched for some abstract versions of the guns used by the teams, and each team member is free to mount lights, lasers, handles, sights, etc  on a weapon, so that's what we are shooting for. Also look for some Phat uniforms for each team, remember the DOE team is responsible for nuclear facilities! heh heh

hey coco, i was thinking, you could make gun actually have lasers shooting out, (i mean the laser sight not star trek) just make them a thin pologon stick that comes out of the gun. then you could make the actual red graphic fade out and then just end the stick. i hope you could understand what i was trying to describe...

Well that is possible but only other people would see it in 1st person view, either way a real laser is not visible that way unless there's a lot of dust or smoke in the air, you just see the dot. There are a few techniques that I want to include as far as muzzle flash tricks, etc...

Be advised, there appear to be some holes in your research.

The only sidearms currently authorized for duty carry by the National Firearms Unit of the U.S. Border Patrol (which is the parent agency of BORTAC) are: 1) the Beretta Brigadier 96D cal..40S&W double-action only. 11 round magazine (no forward slide serrations, no exposed hammer spur) and 2) the SIG P-229 .40S&W double-action only. 11 round magazine.

Duty load is a Remington 155 grain jacketed hollowpoint at a muzzle velocity of 1,350 feet per second.  This load was specifically developed for the Border Patrol to give the same ballistics and wound profile of the .357 Magnum round that it replaced. Investigations of lethal force incidents involving U.S. Border Patrol Agents have borne this out. The round is a proven fight stopper.

The MP-5 series of smg's is currently being phased out of the inventory and being replaced by the H&K UMP40 using the same load. Muzzle velocity is, of course, higher with the longer barrel.

E-mail if you want a more complete list of NFU authorized firearms.

Just as an aside, due to the number of Agents and the amount of ground we have to cover, the U.S. Border Patrol accounts for over half of all gunfights of all federal law enforcement agencies combined, with the remainder being divided roughly equally among the other agencies.

P.S. Did you know that FEMA has it's own police/tactical unit? So does the office of the U.S. Postal Inspector.

Enjoy using your mods. I know you try for accuracy.  Thought this might help.

Thanx 4 the info, very interesting. We do try for realism in our mods of course, but US TAC Mod will not be as "by the book" as SWAT was, we have chosen to use a little more flexibility in the weapons lists to make an all around fun mod that has a diverse mix of weps, a more well rounded mod than we have released to date. I think a lot of ppl probably never heard of half the units in the mod, so at the very least the player will come away with some new info in their brain...

Im not trying to start a flame war here, but what is wrong with our info. I think the only disagreement we have is with the HK USP 40 as a sidearm.

Here is a list of the weapons we will be using for the BORTAC portion.

H&K 53A3
Colt M-16A2
M-203
Colt M-4
H&K UMP 40
H&K MP5A3
H&K MP5SD5
H&K 33A2
Scattergun Technologies 870 shotgun
M-14
Remington 700

Baretta 96D
Sig Arms 229
H&K USP 40

Im sitting here with a box of Federal Premium 9mm LUGER (+P+) 124 grain Hydra-Shok JHP (For Law Enforcement Use Only) that I got at a BP range. Do they not use these anymore?

I am an Agent with the U.S.B.P in the McAllen Sector. I and others here enjoy your work or I would even bother with this. I mean, so what, right? So I have a personal interest in seeing the Patrol potrayed as accurately and factually as possible.  Anything worth doing is worth doing right.

Beretta Brigadier 96D .40S&W (DA only): Currently the standard issue sidearm for duty carry by the Border Patrol.
Sig Arms 229 .40S&W (DA only): Only current authorized substitute standard for duty carry.  Not issued.  Must be individually purchased by Agent.
H&K USP 40C: Compact DA-only. Must be purchased by Agent. Only authorized for carry during assignment to plainclothes duties or off-duty.
Colt M4A1: Removable rear sight assembly. Full-auto trigger group.
Scattergun Technologies Modified Remington 870 shotgun: 12 guage, 14" barrel, five round capacity.
Modified Remington 870 short-barreled shotgun with pistol grips.
M14: Actually these are surplus M-21's acquired by B.P. and issued without the ART II scopes. Call them M-14's to avoid accusations of issuing "sniper rifles" to Agents.
Colt M-16A2
Gas Launcher M-203: Used only as a gas launcher. No H.E. allowed. Sad
Gas Launcher M-79: See above.
H&K UMP40: Currently replacing all MP-5 series weapons.
H&K MP5A3: See above.
H&K MP5SD5: See above.
H&K 33A2
H&K 53A3
Remington 700-P .308
Remington M40 XBKS .308
Steyr SSG .308

Ok..except for a few omissions we are right on track. The reason for the omissions is just plain size. Right now uncompressed Im showing 40 megs Shocked. In order to cut down on the size and allow for a well stocked Federal Arms Room we had to make some cuts. The cuts arent to bad...we are talking about one shotgun, two sniper rifles and one grenade launcher. Unfortunately UO does not allow for CS delpoyment with grenade launchers so we get 40mm HE Cool
Where is the McAllen Sector? My buddy was a firearms instructor at the Brown Field Station, San Diego Sector.
Hope you guys enjoy it. I did complete a REACT Mod for my buddy so he and his friends could play online together. Let me know if you want the link.
