Coco & Cobra, please forgive the terminology I am about to use requesting help. Im just learning how to make weapon models with 3dmax. I have the tracing of the weapon down and applying the texture, as long as the tracing method just requires the lines and not cylinders. The only prob is that my weapons come out square looking. Some pistols look ok that way but I want to do it much better. Can you give me some direction on how I can learn to texture round objects on the weapon.(like the scopes and barrels). I know you guys have a lot on your plate right now, but any assistance is much appreciated.

here's a couple pointers for using extruded lines (no cylinders)... when you extrude, choose to make the extrusion 3 segments (other value near the extrude value) and using the front view, choose the "edit mesh" modifier in the "more" button under the "modifiers" tab. Now you will see all the vertices light up blue. Use the move tool to highlight the inner rows (should be 4 total) of vertices and move them outward, to form the basic width of the gun. Then, move the upper outer rows downward to add a beveled edge. The possibilities are endless when you use edit mesh. if you move the outer rows closer to the inner rows, you can select the entire outer row and scale it down, making the gun have a rounded look all the way around. You should just play around with that, then move on to cylinders.
