Lead...Follow, or Get The Hell Out Of The WAY!! ?

« on: July 18, 2002, 09:23:47 pm »

I want to replace my VooDoo 3000 with a video card that is reasonably priced, but will allow me to play GR at a higher framerate than 18. Is there a decent card for around a hundred bucks that will do this. I dont want to spend alot of money since I will be getting a new Alienware computer in the next 2 months.

Do not go for the GF4MX man. The GF3 is the same price and it performs alot better. I dont know anything about cards, but I do know if I had to do it over again I would not get a GF4mx. Its better than my TNT2 but not much. Im not sure if its the GF3 Ti500 or 200 that is about 120 bucks here but thats the route I would go.

Well the GF3 Ti 200 is going to be cheaper than the 500 anywhere I'd assume. ?Grin Nevertheless I payed $180 for my Ti 200 awhile ago now and I love it. If it's only $120 now then I'd sure go for it. I highly doubt you'd be dissappointed. ? Smiley

Yeah I knew it was one of them SC. I couldnt remember, I thought the GF3 Ti500 was 150 bucks about a month ago here at Best Buy, may have been the 200 though. Anyway, I know it performs better than the GF4MX series. I average 28 fps, damn thing sounds like a weedeater though

damn, why's it so loud? My GF3 purrs like a quiet baby kitten.  Cheesy  This is the first time I've ever had a "top o' the line" video card and I must say that shelling out top dollar was no trade off at all compared to having poor framerates like I did with my older video cards. Now I just hope I won't have to buy another for a loooong time.  Smiley
