Well, was it fair when Gerrard faked a foul for a penalty in the Champions League?

or when Peter Crouch pulled the defender's hair in order to get a goal in the World Cup?

I didn't see many complainting then about the FIFA Refs....

Rooney wouldn't have gotten a Red Card if he hadn't pushed Cristiano, and Ronaldo did what any top soccer figure would have done in that situation, stand-up for his teammate and try to gain some advantage out of it.

I'm glad England lost. Hypocrites!

lol stripes.

Yeah i must say i really hope Zidane plays his very best - he's a magician to watch and without the very best footballer of his generation. quite something.

However... Im rooting for Italy tonight, whichever way it goes i just hope its a cracking game!

And you know what the consequence of that will be BFG.

Making fun of you when France is holding the big trophy tonight.

Zidane will be top tonight, just like in the 98' Final game vs. Brazil  Wink

Let's remember it's an very old experienced France team we have tonight, such things can be good and bad...

I'll be your slave for one day if Italy wins BFG...  Wink Can you imagine?

Absolutly f*cking disgusting. Iv'e never seen anything quite like it.... And to do that in a world cup final in the last match of an amazing career... absolutely unforgivable.

I feel sorry for a few of those french boys who ran their socks of and worked so hard, but my god am i relieved that Italy have just won.

Zidane has class, and always will have.

The italian guy must have said something really personal, Zidane would never do something stupid like that.
Big mistake of him, but i'm sure the italian guy said something wrong, or said something about his personal life/family or what so ever.
I would have done the same, just not in a Worls Cup Final.

Italy goes with the win again, without deserving it..

The Italian player could have and most probably did say something offensive, but Zidane was stupid enough to fall for it and retaliate. Simply incredible he couldn't put his team and country in front of his ego in a momment like that!

The italian guy dosn't say much when zidane walks away, obviously it would be interesting to know what he did say but it dosn't matter if the guy turned round and called him an ass licking tulip munching shit faced emo humping turnip  , you don't turn round walk up to the guy and head charge him.

Franky i'm astonished by it, I thought Zidane was way above it, not to mention letting down his teammates - there the guys i feel sorry for.

Stripes as far as i'm concerned at the end of the day Italy beat France, they didn't rob them or perform any 'hands of god'... they won, they deserved it.

To quote your deleted message Wink

i bet France will do it again - Zidane will be in top form and play a last good match.

It was a game of fitness. Both teams gave 110% of what they had. Remember that each player (assuming that plays the whole game), runs an avg. of 6-8 miles per game. Now in a tournament this long, by the Finals, legs give out very quickly, cramps, etc.

Italy dominated the 1st half, and France the 2nd. But both teams were pretty much done towards the end of the game and penalties looked very much possible.

This is why I don't understand why Zidane did what he did. He must have known that he was key for the penalties if it came to that..... To me, he not only stained his retirement, but betrayed his countrymen and teammates.... So sad!

But Zidane has a history for losing his head and head-butting opponents. He once hit Jochen Kientz in the same manner, a few years back. He also got a red card and a 5 game suspension for his dirt deed and caused Juventus of Italy important games which lead to its debacle. It is important to note that he was just returning from being sent from a Champions League match vs. La Coruna of Spain for accumulating yellow cards. This same act, cost Zidane the "Golden Ball" award for best Euro player in 2000.... just as now he compromised Frances shot at the Title.

His almost sacred image will not be tarnished once again!

zidane is a great player, but not a saint.  he made a critical error.

i was pulling for France in the final, but it was worth it to me that they lost just to see stripes eat crow.

JEEZ ZIDANE.. man.. i was 100& for france... they played better then italy.. but.. what makes me really sad is not that italy won.. no.. its zidane who makes me feel bad... he was and still is one of my favourits players.. but now hell entry in the history as a great maybe one of the greatest players ever, but who ended his career with a red card after a head-butt against and italien player.. in the world cup final 2006 in germany.. and this is what, in my eyes, was the sadest thing yesterday evening

Well, What ever, as Tirofino pointed out, Zidane has made a lot of bullshit in the past. During the 98 world cup, he got sent out against Saudi Arabia... This was, of course a bad gesture (tho i really wonder what this lil bitch of Materazzi said to him), but well, i'll just try to forget, cause it ain't much compared to Zidane's wonderful career. I'm not sure that this ejection made France lose, if you look at the TEN last minutes of the game, france was playing 10vs11 but still dominating the game.
What ever, Idiot gesture, but i can't get mad at the guy.
This is rather sad cause in france, and in loads of country in the world, Zidane is like a god, every children love Zidane, I'm not decieved for that he betrayed his countrymen, but for that he betrayed the children who worshiped him...

It was perfection to see Zidane being sent off. It made looking at every boring match with both teams defending instead of trying to win worthwhile. I always disliked Zidane for looking like he was too good to be playing. His arrogance almost cost him (and his teammates) in the first half when he shot the penalty the way he did. It was a priceless moment when he showed his weakness. What a great way to end his career....dumbass.

Oh, lol

Panelkas (what zidane did on the penalty) works almost everytime, it has nothing to see with arrogance, it's a way or another to score a penalty. Well what ever, if you knew the guy, if you ever heard an interview of him, you would have noticed that this guy is everything but arrogant.
Anyway, nice bashing, have you even seen the final, cause it was everything but boring, and it was way less boring than games such as France portugal, or england portugal, or germany argentina... What ever.. And well, if you think that defencive games are boring, go watch curling...... clapping hands clapping hands clapping hands clapping hands

But you are forgetting all the good things he has done?

What about the World Cup Final 98'?
What about all the other good matches he has been unstopable?

Remember the match vs Brazil in the semi-finals?
ehmm.. who was the main player in the whole match?

I agree, stupid way to end a carrer.
Something really personal must have happend there, the italian guy must have said something really private - zidane would never just go head-butt a guy like that.
I feel he said something about his family, or what so ever..

Anyway, nice carrer with up-times and downtimes.
I still see Zidane as the best player in the world, with the greatest experience..
I mean, who else do u got out there? Ronaldhino?

No worries Stripes, I haven't and will surely never forget what zidane did.
His time at Juventus, Real Madrid or in french National team were almost all great.
Yeah, i'm like you stripes, i'm stoned, and i'm really looking forward to knowing what this materazzi bitch said. But anyway, i'm quite saddened that such a great and experienced player as zidane fell in the stupid flaming italian trick

I never said the final was boring. It wasn’t. It was priceless to see Zidane fail miserably.

And well, if you think that defencive games are boring, go watch curling......

I don’t like defensive games as much as you Clay. But you always liked camping, didn’t you?

if you knew the guy

Do you know Zidane?

I see that I really upset you youngsters. Don’t jump on me for having another opinion about Zidane than you. I don’t jump on you for calling Materazi a bitch, even though I like him more than the entire french team combined.
