I have downloaded some of the mods from this site, some run and some crash GR when I run them. Can anyone point me in a general direction to begin troubleshooting? Anything downloaded from the Mac part of this site should be Mac friendly right?

The crash usually happens when a mission is trying to load. Here are a couple mods that currently crash:
Band of Brothers
=SEALZ= Iraqi Freedom

thanks for any help

Yes they are supposed to be Mac friendly and have been tested.

In your mod list: Desert Siege has to be on top and below the Band of Brothers or Iraqui Freedom Mod.

Further Make sure that the real folder(the folder with mission, actor, textures,... subfolder) is inside your Mod folder and not a folder on top with a readme and then the true mod inside.

Hope that helps, if not please post your lke.log file inside your GhostRecon folder after a crash.

Thanks again for the help - as you saw in my other post, I updated to 1.4 and made sure DS was highest priority and now everything seems to be working - textures, no crashing, etc. Time to go have some fun!
