Okay, here it is....my first quiz in a while.  I decided to pay my respects for President Reagan with this quiz about American Presidents.

The first person to correctly answer all 10 questions gets a $50 iTunes Gift Certificate from me.

Unlike previous quizes, this one is open to anybody on the forum, even if you have previously won one of my quizes.

Here are the questions:

1.  3 Times in our Presidential History we have had 6 Presidents alive at the same time (a sitting President plus at least 5 earlier Presidents).  Name the three times this has happened (example, from 1845 to 1848 we had 5 Presidents alive at the same time; John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson, Martin Van Buren, John Tyler, and the sitting President James Polk)?

2.  Who was the last person to serve as President who was born in the 1700s?

3.  Who was the only President who did not live to see the 19th Century?

4.  Who was the first President to die in office?

5.  Which President held the highest rank while on Active Duty in the U.S. Military (hint-he didn't actually hold this rank while he was alive)?

6.  Who was the only President that counts twice out of our 43 Presidents?

7.  Who was the only President to be in military combat while serving as President?

8.  Who was the oldest President at the time of his death?

9.  Who was the youngest person ever to serve as President?

10.  Which President lived the longest after being President?

Okay, first person to answer them all correctly wins a $50 iTunes Gift Certificate!

(Updated to make question 2 and question 5 more clear)

Well, seeing as how I'm paying my respects to Ronald Reagan, and you are on record stating your disdain for him, I would say that this is fitting.   Wink

Peace.

-GhostSniper Out.

P.S.  Several People have e-mailed me their answers and as of 5:15 pm U.S. Central Standard Time, nobody has given me the correct answers for all 10 questions....so the $50 iTunes Gift Certificate is still up for grabs!

about number 5, you told me it was correct in my previous attempt and about the updated question, how can someone hold a high up military position during active duty and be dead at the same time? I am just curious. Something isnt making sense.

No, you havn't gotten number 5 right yet.  The person can be the highest ranking military person to have been President if he was later promoted to that rank and it was made retroactive to his time on active duty.  Kinda tricky, this one.

Crypt is correct on all 10.

1. March 4, 1861 to January 18, 1862/ January 20, 1993 to April 22, 1994/ January 20, 2001 to June 5th, 2004

Correct

2. James Buchanan

Although another President was born later in the 1700s, Buchanan was the last President to serve who was born in the 1700s.

3. George Washington

George Washington died in 1799, and was the only President who did not live to see the 19th Century.

4. William Harrison

Although not assasinated, William Henry Harrison holds the distinction of being the first President to die in office.

5. George Washington

In 1976, President Gerald Ford posthumously appointed George Washington as General of the Armies of the United States, and specified that he would always outrank all officers of the Army, past and present.  His date of rank was July 4, 1776, making him the highest ranking military person ever to serve as President.

6. Grover Cleaveland

Grover Cleaveland had a split term making him both the 22nd and 24th President of the United States.

7. James Madison

James Madison was the only President who saw actual military combat while in office when the British attacked Washigton, D.C., during the War of 1812.

8. Ronald Reagan

At 93 years old, Ronald Reagan currently holds the distinction of having lived longer than any other President in American History.  If Gerald Ford lives at least 2 more years, he will pass Ronald Reagan up.

9. Theodore Roosevelt

Teddy was the youngest person ever to SERVE as President, upon succession when President McKinley was assasinated.  John F. Kennedy was the youngest person ever ELECTED President.

10. Herbert Hoover

Herbert Hoover holds the distinction of having lived 31 years after serving as President.  If Gerald Ford lives at least 4 more years, he will also take that record.

Okay, where do I send the iTunes Gift Certificate Crypt?

Did you change the #5 question GS? I coulda sworn it was:

"Who was the only president to be on active military duty during his term?"
