I'm just curious, is RvS living up to your expectations? Huh

Passing my expectations actually.

So many people were down on RvS (many of the old guard here) before it came to Mac.  Add a little of the fact that Redstorm is hit and miss, or that Aspyr is the same hit or miss with it's ports, and I was expecting as many bugs as GhR, and serious flaws.

While there are always things that they could have done better (we are all Monday morning armchair quaterbacks here) the game has played well, suffered less from lag and has great graphics.

Well, Yes, it is, but I wish i could run it better, I mean hell, the game runs great for an iMac, but I imagine this game @ 60+ FPS and smoother gpx than mine would make it look sweet, as for gameplay, it's great too. All-around great game.

Sorry guys, maybe it's just that the first game I ever bought for the Mac was Ghost Recon, but I just don't like RvS.  I wish I had pirated it instead of buying it!  I think I may grow to tolerate it (as I'm sure it will be the main game played on the ladder eventually), and my machine plays it just fine (I hit 142 fps by some miracle the other night--for just a second), but I just don't like the interface.....I LIKE AA BETTER!!!

Well, let's see.....I like the interface better in AA for one.....also, being able to pick up weapons after someone dies, being able to jump up onto things, the honor scoring system, the weapons seem more realistic to me, the graphics seem better to me, the motion seems more fluid in AA, and I do like the maps better in AA.

Well, those are just a few of the things I like better about AA over RvS....I'm sure I could think of more but I'm tired and going to bed now.

P.S.--and no screwed up heart-beat sensors in AA!

Cheaters at AA? I don't think so. PB does a pretty good job, and admins will kick anyone they suspect. I've never seen a cheater in AA.

I like RvS better... To me the game play is better, I like the fact that you can pick wich weapon you want to use (in AA you have to hope that you get the right slot for a good weapon). I also hate the fact that in AA some noob can do something stupid (like run info=romt of you whle throwing a nade) and couse you to TK a bunch of peeps.. so then loose honor points w/ thats soo long to get back(expecaily when that same noob does the same thing agaon the next round). In RvS I think there is just better game play.

Im curiouse, i was a great fan of RS and got totally addicted.. but always wanted a 'non urban' version.. then alonge came GhR which certainly floated my boat Wink but i miss the CQC of RS... Are the folks that used to play RS a lot Satisfied with RvS - do you think its a significant enough inproment and or are there perhaps issues that have come up that wern't present in RS?

Well let's see, 1700 some kills and 150 deaths in Coop in RS3.  Opps, that's the xbox version!  Coop is so much better on the xbox then in this game, that's the only thing that has disappointed me so far.

Ping-wise...... 2004 will bring an extended and ...well, endless (sigh) ...discussion back:
The "Cross-continent CB?ing" issue, because of games, where high-ping is becoming more and more relevant, with faster action. Raven Shield is a fast-action game, and so will it be for the rest of the games coming up during 2004/2005 - if u ask me.

I've talked with Lin a lot about this with his experiences in the PC world, and not only do they not have cross-continental CBs, but they don't play on cross-continental servers at all.  The lag is just too much of an issue.  The main thing I've noticed when playing on a server with bad ping is that it can take up to a full second for your gun to fire after you click the mouse.  That's a pretty serious issue.  But since the Mac community is just too small to split into 2 leagues, it's gonna be loads of fun trying to figure this out Wink

As for the game, I love it.  Much faster gameplay than GhR.  Looks a whole lot better.  It'll be interesting to see how much the gameplay slows down when real CBing starts.

Rvs i think is great, yes it has flaws but hell they did a nice job on it. As for better than AA? um NO. AA has more gun realism flaws then rvs, which bugs me the most. AA has no pick up and play. Expessially i gota sit around for 20 mins just to find a freaking server. M203 are gay. And kills the close quarter realism. MB its good for the army but i like to get close. I hate the jumping thing, one of the ideas i loved about r6 series, people bounce when u shoot ect... which in real life (paintballers/airsofters) know you dont bounce when theirs a enemey. I found that to be a problem. But for being a freebe hell, its good enouf. But r6 4 ever. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Really?  I've seen 20 or so.  Seen a couple get the boot as well.

Most of this was pre punkbuster, but still, I've seen them.

P.S.
Raven Shield really brought back a new meaning to the gamelevel called "Elite" in coop-games. Look into yourself, and answer me honest:

How many "terrorist hunts" have you finished in singleplayer on Elite-level so far ??

My best shot so far, is 19 out of 20 terrorists in City Street Large on "mission" and "Terrorist Hunt".

I played my first co-op game the other night, and I was disappointed at the continuing existence of Red Storm Terrorists. You know, the kind who magically sense your presence from around a corner 30 yards away, and then put a bullet through your eye with an instantaneous shot from the hip as soon as you peek around the corner. Realistic AI would make that game much more interesting.
