All reports on PlanetRogueSpear and other websites that reported that RS mods doesn't work are wrong. There are only the same problems I had with R6 PC mods.
First I wasn't sure because PlanetRogueSpear reported that the MAc RS version uses another mod system. - Thats wrong and I started to convert GrayFalcons Treasure Island for Mac(with Gray's bless).
The release date and other features will b announced soon.
Your *DAMN mod mac maker,
Mauti - for a better Mac RS world

Well, even PC RS maps don't work with the Mac version; I installed several map packs and none of them worked, one of them had to be enabled in the Mods menu, but the others just had to be placed in the missions folder. So I think there are quite a few incompatabilites between the Mac and PC versions. It may be that GrayFalcon's mod is done in a fashion to allow it to be easily ported to the Mac...
I have a friend who tried to install several PC mods, such as Nato3 and they did not work at all. It appears that relatively simple mods are the only ones that work currently.
BTW: It didn't say it uses a totally different mod system , it says that you need to modify the mods a bit to work properly.

Hi Wrath,
I wanted to say that there only the same problems as I had with R6 and GrayFalcon mod isn't a simple mod: Over 500 files, new 3D objects, skins, and so on... but at the moment I have few problems to run it fine! However I don't think there is a general PC -mac mod problem. You have to play a little with these unproper made mods.
How fine I can convert them we will soon, when the conversion of Treasure Island is finished in one or 2 weeks.
Greetings,
Mod Maker Mauti =)

Well, to tell the truth, RS doesn't need any mods, it has all the weapons you could want and excellent maps, so theres not much more to add.
The only reason I could think if having a mod would be to add more ammo types.
BTW: It's not that it's improperly made, it's that there are incompatibilities between Mac and PC. End of discussion. Period. =)

No. Sure there are problems but the problem with the command chars isn't because of incompatibility. I also had this problem with R6 mods.
There are other problems but the char problem has nothing to do with the PC or Mac version.
End of message......

AS a Mac Mod newbie Ive found great success with PC mods. By doing three things.
1) Stripping all text files of DOS line feeds I use an applescript droplet that does 200-300 files in about 5 seconds. (Youdd think it was PErl or something)
2 ) Batch converting wav to Sys 7 sounds
3) global stripping of .wav extention from text files I hope this helps.
ps Anybody know a common reason for clients to be booted from MP when host and client have exact same mod? I get all the way up to the first second of battle
