I know that there are programs for PC that display the weather on your desktop(at least, I think there are) does anyone know any program for Mac that does the same thing? I just want to know the temp outside without having to go to weather.com....

No it is, and its pretty sweet. You get a number of "widgets" which show up as windows. Theres a "widget" for a clock, one that shows the weather, one that displays a picture, one for your airport, and one for your battery power. They are estenially larger icons of what you have at the top right of your screen.

They are simple little java programs - its basically very (very) similar to what apple is doing for 10.4

U can get all sorts of things - from weather forcasts, Stock tickers, calulators, stickies, little games, stop watches... u name it you can Konfabulate it! Wink

Actually, IIRC, the widgets are not made using Java, but a custom scripting language which is interpreted by Konfabulator. I used Konfabulator for a while, but it ran far, far too slowly for my taste, so I stopped.

Konfab sucks. It uses like 25% of your processor even when doing nothing. Can't wait for Dashboard which I bet will use something like 4%. You choose what you'd rather have.

Just incase any of you think Apple copied Konfab, look up stuff from classic Apple OSs.

Could be. I don't remember the keynote address well enough to say for certain.

Found it

The Dashboard is home to a new kind of application called Widgets. Widgets are mini-applications written in JavaScript that are designed for fun as well as function. They keep you up to date with timely information from the Internet such as stock quotes or the latest view from your favorite Web cam. They can also provide quick, simple access to frequently-used applications such as a calculator, a playback controller for iTunes and a contact look-up for Address Book.

java/javascript/jam/juice same thing Wink ..

Looking at the SS's of dashboard i sure hope they inprove the graphics of them i wasn't exactly blown away by their stunning looks....

if you only want the weather, get Weather Pop. Its a little application that goes in the menu bar near the clock, costs eight dollars if you want to bother registering, but works fine without that. I have it set as a startup item. it uses almost no processor, and can be configured in a number of ways.

I cant believe no one else has suggested this yet.
