More than two years after Steve Jobs put Mac OS 9 "into the grave" at WWDC, Apple recently removed the last new Mac OS 9-bootable systems it offered. Since the debut of the Power Mac G5, Apple has offered customers in need of booting Mac OS 9 both 1.25GHz and dual-1.25GHz Power Mac G4.

These limited production Power Mac G4 systems were removed from dealer price lists in June after updated Power Mac G5 towers were announced but remained available from the online Apple Store. With the debut of the iMac G5, however, the G4 towers have vanished altogether.

Can't say there are any OS9 computers left in the house. Although there is one that runs OS 7.6

The loss of ATM didn't bother me in that i love the new font book in X ... and there are some very good font managments apps out there for X as well...

Only thing im missing in 9 at the mo is the loss of Apples QTVR Authoring Studio - why the F* havn't they done anything about it? U freaking create a way to do this crazy shit and then u don't bother to bring it to X ? makes no damn sense Sad

adobe sucks ass... all I would ever use is photoshop and illustrator

their video apps are so damn unnessissarily slow and inefficient its rediculous.

and why the fuck don't they just build streamline into illustrator?

Heh... one or two people might disagree with the idea that the company that makes Photoshop and Illustrator sucks ass...

Although yeah apple make vastly superior Video apps and Macromedia make vastly superior Web apps.

My last OS9 application was Adobe Photoshop....but once I got my G5 and found out I couldn't boot in OS9 anymore I went out and bought Photoshop 7.  Solved all my OS9 problems forever![/size]

I still have OS 9 on 2 Macs in the house, 1 on my dads iBook (he is not computer savy but knows how to use OS 9 after years of annoyingly bothering me "how do you do this, how do you get that" etc) and the other is my G4 400 tower (upgraded from a G3 233) and this tower is where I keep my KDX server running.

I mainly keep these comps as back up, for the server, and back up incase my current (OS X) PB goes nutz, so I can still check email, etc....and last but not least, no one here mentioned ROGUE SPEAR!!! that is the ultimate classic game, and although I never play it anymore, I dont want to get rid of it, b/c its a classic, will always be on my OS 9 mac, ready to engage the enemy whenever need be Cheesy
