we hate it when our friends become successful

« on: February 16, 2004, 11:54:48 pm »

I hate to make these n00bish threads asking for computer help, but this problem has bothered me for just too long of a time now. Whenever I try to delete my copy of Rogue Spear, the computer freezes. When I restart, the program is still there, intact. I only have a 20 gig HD on this iBook, and RS taking up well over a gig is really cramping my style. Is there anyway I can get rid of this program without fucking up  my comp?

I would like to preempt the always humorous joke of people telling me to erase my harddrive in the terminal.

Thanks in advance to anyone with advice.

That's a terminal command (Loth's post) of course Tasty.

Are you in OS9 or OSX?  One thing I've read many times is you can boot back into OS9 and delete things without worrying about permissions, etc.

If there's permissions trouble, prepend sudo to that command.

If it's a permission problem, it shouldn't hang the system - it should just state that he isn't permitted to complete that operation. It could be a variety of problems, but I would really need to know what OS is running. One possibility is that there is a bad block on his HD.
