Hello

I am having trouble installing IT on my Mac after extracting the .cab files on my PC.  I have spent many hours both renaming files, referring to the forums and tinkering with things. It got to a stage where not even GR would start.  Nothing seemed to be working but then...progress!!

I managed to get GR to start up (it was refusing to do so if the Mp2 folder was in the Mods folder) by altering the modsset.txt file from 'mp2' to 'Mp2' .  Then I went into Options, and Mods, and selected IT.  If IT was listed 2nd (ie below DS), when I clicked 'Accept', the screen would go completely white so I couldn't navigate except by guessing where the buttons were.  So I put IT in the list above DS, and clicked 'Accept'.  The screen didn't go white (wa-hey!) but when I started a new campiagn using IT, it started me on the ist map for the original GR campaign!!

Anyone have any ideas as to what is going on?

Thanks in advance.

It seems you all make one common fault with the conversion. Do you also have renamed all subfolders!? Also if you read through the Island Thunder Mac Project again you will notice that you have to modify the Shell folder because it contains all different language packs.

Open your shell folder and compare it the file structure with your Origmiss shell folder and change it if different.

That should help,

Mauti

Hi Mauti

Thanks for continuing to help me out here - it's really frustrating when many other people have managed to make IT work, and I can't.  I have tried so many times, and read all the links in the forums to make sure I'm not making stupid mistakes. I've even tried working with the data2.cab files, and even re-extracted the files on my PC to see if that helped - but no.  I used Win300 - should I try with i6comp? Could it  be linked to the fact that I have partitioned my hard drive and have moved things that usually exist on the System partition to the Data partition?

I have compared my Mp2 folder to both the Origmiss folder and the Mp1 folder, and tried to set it up in the same way.  One interesting thing is that my Origmiss folder doesn't have a Shell folder...There is however a Shell folder inside the Data folder which sits in the same level as the Mods folder.

Anyway, about renaming sub-folders, I assume you mean folders contained within Mp2. My Mp2 folder is inside the Mods folder and contains the following folder:  It has been patched, and I have also run the 1.4 update patch on GR.

Textures (lots of .rsb files such as boat_wash.rsb)
ModsCont.txt
Mission (contains .gtf and .mis files such as (coop) defend.gtf)
Shell (contains a folder Art, and afile called strings.txt.  This is the file I took from the Shell English folder after extracting the .cab files.  I trashed the other language Shell folders. The Art folder contains lots of .rsb files.
Attachments (contains lots of .qob files, such as att_cuba_alied_boonie_01.qob)
save (contains folders game and replay)
Sound English (contains lots of .wav files such as tcp_extract_01.wav)
Video (two .avi files)
Kits (contiains .kil and .kit files such as behemoth0.kit)
Character (4 folders: Allied, civilians, specialists, Enemy)
Actor (.atr files, such as c06_k_2a.atr)
Model (.qob and .pob files such as c01_dyn_grass.qob)
Sound (lots of .wav files such as a_static.wav)
CommandMaps (.rsb files, such as c01_plantation.rsb)
Equip (contains files such as .kit, .gun, .prj)
Briefings (.rsb files, such as c01_plantation_shots.rsb)
Map (lots of folders eg C01_Plantation which then contain .rsb files)

Is this helpful?

Thanks again.

Hmmm kits folder also has subfolders: hero and multiplayer. Sound has several subfolder like russian_voice, briefing and music. Shell/Art folder also contains a kit folder. Texture folder has subfolder named faces.

Check out if you have them further are you sure you are running GR version 1.4? Look at the lower right corner of your GR start screen.

Also when you ran the IT Mac patch have you installed the Easy package!? Some guys only installed the codecs and wondered why it doesn't work...

Bye,

Mauti
ps.: i6comp should be included in the win300 package!? If nothing works try the whole process again with i6comp.

Hi Mauti

I checked all my folders and they do contain the subfolders you named, except for one thing.  The only difference is that my Sound folder contains only three subfolders:Music, Russian, Russian_Voice - there's no Briefing folder in there.  Otherwise they're as you say.   I am definately running GR 1.4 (it says it in the lower right corner of the Main Screen).  When I ran the IT patch, I have only ever run the Easy install - I have never installed the Codecs - could this be it?

Is there a way I can get a complete list of folders, files and subfolders either from you, or can I send my list so that you can examine it?  If so, how do I make such a list without making it manually?

Thanks again.

Matt.
