The first is that we are sending all this money to pay for the wars and to pay for rebuilding after our wars. Meanwhile State and Local governments (who can't take deficits like the federal one) are cutting programs in order to keep a balanced budget in the down economy. There is a huge problem with this and as the author points out, the ordinary person who needs the domestic help, doesn't have much bargaining power compared with those that would benefit more from having a war.
Secondly is that our press is disturbingly one sided (not conservative or liberal), and that side is corperate. Nearly all media sources are now owned by a few corporations and those corporations (and their advertisers) are the same people with power that have the control above. It is a double wammy against americans and is one of the small steps needed in truly having an effective American media climate.
