Jeb, there have been databases like this around for a while.  When it gets a quiz wrong, it asks you for the answer, which will be a later guess.

It got my PDA wrong.  It doesn't think that I can speak into it or communicate with others, but since it has e-mail and a voice recorder, I won.

It's not AI. It's known as an Expert System. They've been around for a very long time. A common use is for medical diagnosis.
