OK, this is how I do it for weapons, so should be at least very similar process.
Once Ive made an object I select the Material editor under the rendering tab, select you texture from here, Probably still has to be a bitmap. Drop the texture onto the object.
Then I go into the modify tab and select UVW map, select subobject. select 'Y' in alignment and bitmap Fit. Select your bitmap and scale it to the correct size, If its a multifaced object like a box I presume you would have to seperate all the faces and texture individually.
Group object, align it and export.[obviously you know this last part:) ]
Then use whatever paint prog. photoshop or paintshop pro and convert the bitmap into an rsb file with exactly the same name, place all the files into the relevant folders.
As Ive never done a map before there could be some major differences? hope it helps soem until one of the better modders replies.

Hey btk, remember anyone can have info that you can use! As for maps, bro I never made a map so I can't tell you the process, but it involves selecting the individual faces of the rooms/environment and applying a texture to them using the material editor, just like doing a weapon.
