Ok I have been looking at all the resources for Rainbow Six. ?I have stumbled across a way to make it use an alternate folder for the data. ?I have been looking around the resources using Resedit and have found that with some fairly simple modifications one can have the program load its data from any folder inside the Rainbow Six data folder. ?I haven't done further exploration and forgive me I do not have my copy of Rouge Spear yet it is on the way I think. ?But this would mean one can have the original game and the mods as separate applications. ?I would love to see this implemented because I have seen complaints about the mods changing interfaces and so on. ?Well with this we could have both our original and the mods. ?Well anyone interested I can send the information or post it here if so desired. ?I'm open to either. ?Hopefully the same trick will work on RS so I am looking forward to that. ?I am gonna see if I can get an Applescript to make the neccesary files. ?Not sure if it will work but heres hoping Grin. ?Well anyone in the mod community I would appreciate some feedback. ?Thanks

Hi Kenshin,

I have also thought about the idea to hack R6 with ResEdit but you forgot that you can't activate mods in R6. You would have to add the fitting source code  as well so I don't think it will work! But try it!

Anyways.. For Rainbow Six to load the data/mod folder properly, all the components need to be there. Most mods do *not* have all those components and rely upon the original R6 data folder for its framework.

If you don't want to mess up your original data folder and you have enough hard drive space, I would suggest making copies of the data2 folder and installing different mods in them. I used to have a Nato data2, an ITF data2, a Kombucha data2 and the normal data2. I would rename the one I wanted to use to "data2" so R6 would recognize it - Voila! I could have several mods installed without conflicting with each other.

Of course that takes up lots of hard drive space, but if you have plenty to spare, its not a bad way to go.
