You'll need a video card that supports multiple monitors.  Not sure what is all out there, but I have a Radeon 9000 that does the trick just fine.  New it cost about $130 (i think)

I don't know what monitor port thingy your talking about
but if you have a card with only a DVI and a ADC port on the back you can buy an adc->vga adaptor from Dr.Bott (google) for about 30$. As far as i know, if your card has a vga port on it (the connector that screws in) your out of luck and need to buy another card which costs about 120$.
I think all the cards that came installed on macs since the windtunnel g4s support dual monitors on the same card, but i'm not sure.

What Mac do you have, and what video card does it have in it?

(BTW, if it's an iMac you are fucked.)

You can either get a new video card supporting dual monitors or get a PCI video card and run the second monitor off that.

one of your cheapest options is probably a 2nd hand Geforce 4mx card (u can buy mine if u like Wink ) or an older version radeon card... most support duel displays.
