Heya all, I got a few questions for any DJ's or turntable enthusiasts out there. Last night I spent my first time ever spinnin some records, I had no clue what I was doin but it was a fuggin blast. So, heres my mid life crisis, now I want to start DJ'n. Me and the wife are seperating and I need something other than Games to keep me out of trouble  Wink

So anyone know of some good brands of turntables, mixers, needles, etc...I will have to buy my equip used and I don't need the 1337 set up yet...but somethin to get me started..

Thanks, Kilz

Good turntables: Technics, Vestax, Stanton, Numark...
Good mixers: Technics, Vestax, Rodec...
Good cd-players: Denon, Pioneer, Numark...
Cartridges: Stanton, Shure...
...

You can find a lot of stuff on this site: http://www.pssl.com/
And try talking to Harvey, he's a pro dj so he can tell you whats good gear.

ok..TT's.. Stay away from new vestax.... they are sring waited abd will fuck up records quick
Technics are he most widely used, the newer Numarks are good entry level TT's and
Mixers.. well that depends on what type of set up you r looking at
I would also ugest looking into the newer CD Turn tables.. Denon make a cd TT's that has a rotating plate on it that works just like and feels just like a regular TT http://www.usa.denon.com/catalog/photo.asp?s=pro&p=DN%2DS5000&f=dns5000%2Ejpg&c=31
for cartrides.. stanton,shure.. shure makes some good entry level carts
there is alot more i could show you/ tell you.. but unless i can talk to you in PM to seee what direction you want to go this is all i can tell you right now (i used to work at a shop that sold equipment)
I alo have good knowledg of pro audio speakers and lighting..
I run my own private DJ bizz and work at a strip club DJing full time (to pay bills).. but the strip club is more of an MC type of job

Djing isn't realy about celebrity, or money, or getting laid, it's about music. Music is what motivates the finest DJ's:they love it, they live for it.
