Well, it's meant mostly for education, so I dunno if they will or not for a while. It's at 700 Mhz now right?

Hey o:n:e

Check out the apple refurbished site.  I saw some very good emac's for only 400 dollars and maybe the after christmas sale brought down the price.

Yes. Yes almost certianly but no probably not in January. the emac is inportant for apple in the education market and there is no way that they will want to let this comp slip behind the others too far. I would be extreamly surprised if we don't see speed bumped emac's before too long.

I'm not sure what you guys are talking about.  I got my 1GHz G4 w/ 1G Ram eMac a couple of months ago.  I had an original 700MHz G4 back in June 2002, but I gave that to my mom, she gave me some cash for it, and  then I bought the new 1GHz eMac for about $800.  It had Panther pre-installed, Super Drive, 32MB ATI Card, and all of the usual stuff.  I got it with my education discount since I'm a college student/teacher.  If you really check out the specs and what I paid for it, I did very well on this purchase.

You can currently get a G4 eMac 1GHz w/ 256MB Ram ATI 7500 32MB Card w/ SuperDrive for $999 with an education discount from the Apple Store Online.  I actually got mine from the Apple Store down the road and received a bigger discoun since my University is also dwn the road, and it is mostly Macintosh.

All in all, it's not a bad deal.  I would love to have a G5 with a 23" flat screen, but i'll wait until those pesky student loans are mostly paid off.
