In the 2D realm, Photoshop and ImageReady both can export animated GIFs as well as Fireworks.

In the 3D realm, there's Maya, Lightwave, Cinema 4D, Form Z (I think it's still available for Mac), and Strata 3D.

2D, i always use a combo of PS and good 'ol GifBuilder =D

3D i use a program that they used to give out free called "Pixles3D." Pretty good program, fairly powerful, and you can't beat the price! i dunno if they still give out old versions for free, check www.pixels3d.com

For 3d graphics on the mac there are really only 3 good choices.

3rd Place goes to Pixels 3D. I decent program good for home users who don't want to plunk down a bunch of cash and just want to hobby about in 3d. At $400 a copy, there are some who wonder if you get what you pay for... http://www.pixels.net/

2nd Place goes to Animation Master. Affectionatly called "Hash" by it's users. All the mac 3d people I know think hash is far far better than pixels. Animation Master also wins the award for Most Economical 3d app for the mac. For only $300 you get the next best thing to Maya on the mac. http://www.hash.com/

1st Place goes to Aliaswavefront's Maya. Maya is the 3d animator's God on Earth. It runs on mac, pc and linux. All animators agree that if you have the money, Maya is definetly the way to go. Of course, for the sticker price of $2000 for the low end version it better be damn good. I've heard there are some educational versions placed at about the price of Pixels and Hash but I'm not exactly sure.
