Title: One Mauti down Post by: core.Flies on March 21, 2006, 11:08:09 pm ANNOUNCEMENT :
Mauti has been in Hospital since saturday afternoon, with broken rips and an eye-injury. Word is, he wont be out until next week. Admins ( and rest of the *DBL for that matter) have to act according to this. Reason: Mauti tried to drive a testcar for a magazine. His message goes as follows: "It was a presscar with too much HP..." Poll will be running until Mauti is back with more details Best regards, and hoping he get better soon | ! | Flies Title: Re: One Mauti down Post by: <82ndAB>Tigah on March 21, 2006, 11:17:04 pm I don't know much about cars so I didn't vote, but I'm guessing a pretty fast and dangerous one :o

Title: Re: One Mauti down Post by: DarK. on March 22, 2006, 09:19:05 pm Ferrari - way too much HP ;) We think alike!Title: Re: One Mauti down Post by: (SiX)Sheixhundt on March 22, 2006, 09:37:24 pm ANY car with "too much horsepower"
is likely to run in the HUNDREDS of thousands of dollars... regardless of make. Can any of you imagine the supreme embarrasing shock and UTTER HORROR of realizing you just trashed (Someone else's) 100K+ car while testing it for an article..?? Jesus...I cant. Part of me wants to laugh, but can't. :-X I once dented a Porsche while parking it during a valet job in highschool... I still get sick to my stomach when i think about it. Cant imagine totalling one that was ten times as expensive. Insurance much? hopefully?? His pride is bound to hurt as badly or worse than the broken ribs... although shitting (and sneezing) is gonna be a BITCH for a while... We all really really Hope you arent hurt too badly, my friend. Too bad they dont make bandaids for a busted Ego. eeeek. :o Title: Re: One Mauti down Post by: core.Flies on March 23, 2006, 03:43:22 am You speak wisely Scheix
I myself am also a bit worried about the consequences of this. We dont have much solid information to go on ( I only have 2 SMS), so I cross my fingers that Mauti wasnt just trying to be brave, by kinda joking about the accident. But the busted Ego will heal - trust me. I once drove my worth-nothing Morris Mascot (mb a litle too fast) into the VIP-parking, where i was granted one free slot, by the ad-agency I worked for. Unfortunately my brakes decided to NOT work, at this occasion. Consequently mt Mascot hit the wall - and died instantly. all windows of the 4-stores buildings surrounding the Parking lot opened, and ppl started to laugh at me. But what they ( and I myself for that matter) didnt notice was, that by hitting the wall, my car also hit the pipes for rainwater ( sorry - dont know correct english word ), and after a delay of like 1 - 2 minutes, the pipe, and huge parts of the roof started to rain down into the parking lot. Consequence ? in one take, i managed to damage ( as i recall); one Mercedes 500 SEL, one Porsche 928, to BMW´s and 3-4 other cars. I remember that afternoon filling out forms for directors and CO´s kinda standing in line with their insurance papers. Their smiles werent that big anymore - trust me. Oh, btw - that was also the date i switched from cars to motorbikes. Best regards | ! | Flies Title: Re: One Mauti down Post by: Ethion on March 23, 2006, 10:50:47 am Flies - GG!
Title: Re: One Mauti down Post by: *DAMN Mauti on March 24, 2006, 12:31:59 pm Alright. I'm back home from hospital. Got released yesterday a bit earlier than first thought. Well I don't do much right now, especially in front of my Mac because my eye still hurts. Rips of course too, but I'm on some heavy medicaments so I don't feel them that much.
I still don't know why the crash happened, I can only remember from the moment where the rear wheels drifted heavily sidewards. I tried to get it back on track but lost control in the end and left the road taking two trees down. The airbag opened and the car finally flipped on its side. My codriver didn't have any wounds, except some small cuts in the face as I did from the side window, although he touched the trees first. At all nothing I really wanna talk about. Car insurance pays so far. Thank god, wouldn't know where to get 60k € (72k us dollar). Car was an yet unreleased Subaru Impreza WRX STI(the street version of the World Rally Kit Car), which I tested already 2 weekends ago in Italy with my uncle. At all a really great car with usually an unexceptional road adherence... If I feel better may I post some pictures taken from the fire department and rescue. Over and out. I'll come back when I feel better. Bye, Mauti Title: Re: One Mauti down Post by: DarK. on March 25, 2006, 06:45:03 am Get well soon, my brother had a similar accident in my car this summer. Really sucks, glad you made it out ok.

Title: Re: One Mauti down Post by: :V:*Beast on March 26, 2006, 01:47:02 am Reason: Mauti tried to drive a testcar for a magazine. His message goes as follows: "It was a presscar with too much HP..." Flies, you said "Mauti tried to drive" so I guessed it was a Ferrari. I tried to drive a Ferrari once (in front of a casino), driving a Ferrari... omg... never again..., it took me 1/2 hour trying to shift it into first gear, I gave up... distance and speed: 5 meters and 5 km/h... Get well soon Mauti!!! next time try some good old DAF variomatic... 120km/h forward AND 120 km/h in reverse!! Regards, The...Beast Title: Re: One Mauti down Post by: *DAMN Hazard on March 26, 2006, 07:51:47 pm Glad to hear you are all right although I would have guessed a Ferrari because its a cooler story to tell crashing a Ferrari ;D But get well soon and enjoy some good couch time.
