Title: Naming songs in iTunes
Post by: Toxic::Joka on March 11, 2006, 11:51:08 am
So I was wondering how you name songs in iTunes.

In order to keep the interface easy to use on the iPod, a song needs to have only one artist, even if two or more artists have colaborated on it. Otherwise there will be several "different" artists, even if it's basically the same.

So far I've always moved the other artist from the artist field to the song name field.
 eg.
Cose Della Vita - Eros Ramazotti & Tina Turner
in to:
Code Della Vita Feat. Tina Turner - Eros Ramazotti

Lately I've come to terms with that this is a pretty crappy system. How do you guys do it? Also, am I the only one that uses capital letters at the start of each word? Any other tricks & tips to keep the iPod easily browsable?  :)

I normally just simplify the track name to the main artist, and if necessary put the other artists contributing under 'composer' ... i really really hate having multiple entries for the same artist if i had a day or so free id sit down and actually organise my itunes library... for now though its a complete and utter mess!

Joka,

My library just grew over 30,000 songs so i know your problem quite well.  I too, like the BFGizzle, used to just keep the main artist but after a while it got to bloody tiresome.

If anyone has a better idea, let us know. ::wall::

I just simply keep all my music oranized in my iTunes library. Maintain it as it comes in.
