Can't help but think... if they've just released this without any announcment or news then there must be somthing much much bigger in the near future pipline that the didnt want to distract attention from?? I don't think this really deserves a big announcement, all mac news sites freak everytime the store goes down anyway (which it did earlier today for about half an hour), heh.
