w00t, who's in? :D Title: Re: World Jump Day Post by: DarK. on December 12, 2005, 08:37:57 am Im in.
Title: Re: World Jump Day Post by: Ethion on December 12, 2005, 09:15:14 am I guess that we will be gliding around with mercury soon then.
Title: Re: World Jump Day Post by: jerkasaur on December 12, 2005, 09:35:45 am Even if their right, do we really wanna move the Earth's orbit in such a haphazard way? Sounds a little dangerous.
Title: Re: World Jump Day Post by: core.C o k e on December 12, 2005, 10:37:30 am i think its more likely to cause another tsunami which will swamp the person who suggested this ridiculous bloody exercise in the first place
::areyoustupid:: Title: Re: World Jump Day Post by: Brutha on December 12, 2005, 01:56:31 pm But but but, if people in America jump..and people in europe jump...and people in Asia jump...wouldn't that just be counter productive? Or in laymans terms, utter bullshit? The only result would be(if at all possible) a more compact planet....and is that a desirable effect?
Title: Re: World Jump Day Post by: BFG on December 12, 2005, 04:05:58 pm Well the good thing about this is all those fat bastards might inadvertanly get a bit of excersise ;)
I kinda tend to agree with Coke on this one... what a bloody stupid idea Title: Re: World Jump Day Post by: Ethion on December 12, 2005, 04:16:48 pm Well, it doesn't even out. We all need to jump at the EXACT same time, and on once side of the earth.
It's if you had a few million antz jumping on a football(soccer). It wouldn't have that big of a effect.. It would only give seismic readings. They had a test in London, where kids in schools all over London went out and jumped, where they had a seismic reading. Can't remember how much, but it wasn't enough to make an earthquake in a big porportion. Title: Re: World Jump Day Post by: BFG on December 12, 2005, 05:36:38 pm I expect the Seismic readout was somting like this :
" L A M E A T T E M P T N O O B S . G O A N D D O S O M E T H I N G U S E F U L W I T H Y O U R T I M E " ..hehe earthquakes would be so much more fun if you had a sarcastic depressed seismometer But seriously... what the hell is the point... firstly there is no way everyone is going to jump at the same time - secondly as the guys pointed out... people are going to be canceling out each others 'jumps'... and anyway, why the hell would we want to change our freaking orbit? Title: Re: World Jump Day Post by: BTs_GhostSniper on December 12, 2005, 06:10:57 pm It's all fun and games til you change our orbit and put us in line to collide with the sun or something. ;)
Title: Re: World Jump Day Post by: Ethion on December 12, 2005, 06:17:10 pm It's all fun and games til you change our orbit and put us in line to collide with the sun or something. ;) Yeah, and who are we going to blame then? oh, I don't know... *looks at Civic* And as I tried to state before, nothing will happened. If you don't have a big meteor hitting us at the same time and all of are jumping on the same side of earth. I think we have a newton theory, if you hit something the same force will push you back.. Like a reticule of a gun. Title: Re: World Jump Day Post by: DarK. on December 12, 2005, 07:14:36 pm it came off as being serious to you guys? Wow, I must have looked at that a bit late.
Title: Re: World Jump Day Post by: Brutha on December 12, 2005, 07:28:29 pm Why dark, it IS serious...you thought it was a joke? ::applause::
Title: Re: World Jump Day Post by: :MoD:Shade on December 12, 2005, 10:16:54 pm The days would be just as long since that is determined by how fast the Earth itself rotates not how fast it rotates around the sun.
Seasons would change though - climates would change, the Artic might melt causing massive flooding. OR The overall temperature of the Earth would decrease causeing an ice age all over again. Kinda what is happening now... |
