Title: Back to External Hard Drives... Post by: BTs_GhostSniper on October 12, 2005, 05:43:49 pm Well, I've already filled up my 400GB External Hard Drive I bought a while back, so now I decided I need another one. I wasn't all that happy with the USB 2.0 interface of that drive either. So I just bought a 500GB G-RAID FireWire 800 drive. Man, the speed difference when transferring really big files is amazing. It's so much faster than that USB 2 drive. I got it for a fairly decent price, too...only $400. I can live with that. My next drive might have to be in the Terrabite range though (did I spell TB right?). Anybody have any experience with G-RAID external hard drives?

I archive all of my music CD's in full-quality AIFF format. Plus a lot of other stuff, like video, pictures, etc. Terabyte* - go for the nice big LaCie drives. :D No thanks...I've heard horror stories about the LaCie drives. Also, I got a LaCie 500GB External Drive first, but it had a huge scratch right on the faceplate right out of the box. No damage to the box, and it was very well packed, and the box was sealed...that means really poor-ass quality control. I sent it right back and made them exchange it for the G-RAID 500GB. |
