Title: iGuard 2.0 Available
Post by: rev316 on September 12, 2005, 09:14:53 pm
List of Features:

· Interaction Bot Detectors
· iGuard no longer scans directory files!
· New exec scanners and txt hacks scanners/locators
· Works with Athena Sword
· Added extended logging reports
· iGuard's credits line is now shown during staging
· Credits line is removed during "windowed" mode

All the updates have been made "under the hood". iGuard will probably look the same, however a lot of improvements have been made.

Important Info:

You need to make sure you install Athena Sword FIRST before installing iGuard 2.0. Otherwise, AS will overwrite the activation files necessary to run.. and Ill get a billion emails asking why.

Back up your old iGuard.ini! You need to carry over your bans to the new ini thats installed. You will loose your bans if you fail to read this.

Other Info:

Dont worry about a maplist or mods. Most maps and other mods should work fine without any modification to RvS.

I highly recommend ANYBODY using 1.0 to upgrade. Also, those who feared iGuard not working with mods should be able to use 2.0 easily.

Special thanks to Lee and Shiex for testing.

Rev - It was asked that i remove the link briefly as the testers aren't quite finished with fully running through the update in preparation for public release, so until they have done some more testing, i hope u don't mind that we hold off release so we have full public support and testers are finished.

The main problem the main RvS Servers are not fully ready for your upadate - and we don't want players to update to quickly and then not be able to play anywhere! - we havn't sorted the tech support ready to support players who try to upgrade etc and may well come up against problems.

any problems with this mate, please feel free to email me at bfg@damnr6.com

Guys, rev has posted this but it hasn't been completely tested yet and servers are not running it so you will NOT be able to play!

Therefore until the testers have clarified it id suggest you hold off until we can give a green light.

for those of you who have installed it, just remove your iGuard Docs file from RvS and reinstall the original one.[/b]

No dark - if anyone did install it, you need to carfully follow the instructions found on the installer which specifiy exactly which files must be removed, and where to find them. Simply removing the iGuard pint will not work.

You cant retrograde it, period.

Im waiting to compile a new version.

Apologies to everybody waiting, im a hard time getting people to test it.

Thanks Rev, sorry bout this, but if we don't go through every possible cock up that folks might make/find etc and if people install it before the servers are ready, all hell will break loose, and then nobody will want to bother.

Great stuff though,  your work is really appreciated.

Thanks BFG.

The BTs server is running it smoothly, glad to finish her up.

I decided to put up a manual installer, incase this installer gives anybody troubles.

This site or anysite can freely distribute this as well.

Installer:

Manual Install:

Rev, we've had a few people getting the following when trying the run the installer:

"An error occured while reading the installer data. This installer appears damaged. 1009:5,-9199 Installer has expired"

Just a heads up mate, (manual does the trick perfectly however :D )

You get what you pay for..heh.

I knew VISE would require something.

Though its odd that only some people had this issue.

That can happen with the unlicensed installer. I think it expires after two weeks....

However Rev if you send me a screenshot of your .vct data I could recreate the installer with my license!

Bye,

Mauti

So your trying to copy the files across in to the corresponding RvS folders, and as you move the .utx texture file you get this error?

hi,

I isntalled RvS 4 times b4, I tried with and without the RvS updates.
I tried out also just installing the iGuard after RvS install.
Then tried after a new RvS install doing it as the downloaded manual said, that was place the files manually in their respective RvS folders, but still the same error, that intrigues me, cause I made different instalations.
Dunno if that what u mean but its basically what I did.

Thx for the follow up guys.

Allright lets go through it a moment.

firstly, when u dl'ed the manual install, did it unzip all allright? have you checked the file sizes are right?
When u get this error, is the error coming up from the finder as you move the file, or is it coming up when you launch Raven Shield?? -

first up, id suggest you wipe RvS off your HD completely, (but back up your user.ini file if you want to keep all your key binds etc) and make sure you havn't left anything lying around..

- Then do a clean install of RvS, followed by an instal of AS (if you have it and want ot play it)
- run the RvS updater (which you can grab from the Aspyr website)

and now iGuard.
- dl the latest copy (id suggest scrapping the copies of iguard you have dl'ed so far, and getting a fresh copy of the manual install) also like i said, make sure it's all dl'ed fine and un zip it.

- Now all you need to do is move the individual iGuard files into the corresponding RvS folders of your copy of RvS. (yes overwrite the existing files)

- now if you've done all that then thats a correct install and you shouldn't have any problems. but if it dosn't work, lemme know what the answer was to my first couple of questions...

Any catches yet with this?  I'm thinking I may need to update this one more time at the very most, only doing a few things.  I think one of the requests was a namelock so players can't change thier names after entering and I was thinking of updating the detection method a lil bit more to get rid of practically all cheats, this recent update should have gotten rid of most cheats but you never know how crafty cheaters may be.  So let me know, if I do update Rev will be asking for more beta tester's fairly soon.

btw.  No I don't own a Mac, but you guys should be proud of me, i'm using a PowerBook right now!!! lol...(I Think it's better then what Rev has if i remember right)

so yea, long post short...Any Catches with the most recent update?  Am I just looking in the wrong place?

lol I had an account on here but I forgot my password and account name...
