Title: Crazy idea for GR supporting AA Post by: l ! l Ross on July 02, 2005, 04:51:24 pm AA has very limited GR support. All you can do is look though the server lists and join a game (it takes so long for the game to open that you loss your spot before you get in).
Now there are 3rd party apps for hosting your own AA servers. So is it not possible that GR support could be worked into an app for starting an AA server? It would basically be like joining any other server with GR but it would have its very own room rather than disappearing into a mess of servers on a list. If it worked we would finally be able to have good games of AA with fellow mac users without having to search for good servers with enough room for everyone to join and the added bonus of no PC cheaters. It would defiantly need Evills help. Do you think it would work? Ross fixed the typo in the topicname -Civic Title: Re: Cazy idea for GR supporting AA Post by: BFG on July 02, 2005, 05:29:35 pm If its possible i think it would do an awesome amount for guys playing AA. I know id be booting AA up a lot more often if it was into a room with other mac guys from GR.

Btw It's about time we got some GR support for some of the latest games (FtF,BF 1942) These games seem to pop up in many posts that have nothing to do about them ;) Title: Re: Cazy idea for GR supporting AA Post by: l ! l Ross on July 02, 2005, 06:46:26 pm These apps allow you to host and play at the same time ross ? Any url where to find it ? Dedicated only. I haven't tried hosting. I think you can host on a slow computer too. Am not even sure if there is any for the current version of AA. I do remember this one http://quickserver.the-edg.net/ But its only supports version 2.1. It dose say he was working on a new and more advanced version but that must have been a while ago. So he may have given up. Title: Re: Cazy idea for GR supporting AA Post by: .vooDoo. on July 03, 2005, 05:02:37 am Let me get this straight. Mac gamers already have to wait a long, long, long, time for PC games to get ported to Mac, and on top of that Scott just sits on his lazy ass and makes you wait even longer for GR to support the latest games available to Mac. Soooooo, exactly what is Premium 50 bucks for again? Lame, ::wall::
On a side note, when AA 2.4 comes out to Mac/linux your all welcome to join my server. I run anti hack mods and I load up about 16 AASA ban list each 40k. Each ban list is a text file of about 100 confirmed cheaters and punk buster automatically blocks them from joining the server by there PB GUID number. voo Title: Re: Cazy idea for GR supporting AA Post by: Civrock on July 03, 2005, 05:11:50 am ... it's not Evill who sits on his lazy ass, it's the game developers. for example the GR Plugin for BF1942 full is done since months already, but Aspyr is STILL working on the update that implements it and fixes some other stuff. could be because they care about the cross-platform compatibility and dont want to fuck something up there... or maybe they're just slow. i heard they're in the testing phase for it finally tho, but all in all it's not Scott's fault for sure.
as far as i know about FtF... GR support is planned and a GR plugin for it is done already also, not 100% sure about that tho. about AA... there was never real GR support implemented in the game by its devs... so we can't blame GR for that. That's nice enough to argue - that's it's the developers faults - but with a bit more open interface for the GR plugin system, amateurs could write plugins that would work likely quite well with the game, even if the two don't cooperate entirely. I'm giving the system a go myself (a simple rooms base one - no users, no chat, no community : just a way to find other, or your friends', Mac servers), but it is far from the ideal solution - even as planned!as far as i know about FtF...
