Post by: BTs_Mysterio on May 23, 2005, 09:38:29 pm Apple already uses Intel control chips in many products. As for the CPU, that will always be a PPC based chip. Perhaps somehow they confused Cell with Intel when calling for what chip apple will use next.

Post by: BFG on May 24, 2005, 09:46:23 pm The IBM roadmap for the G5's is good... we know or at least we hear of continued rumours etc that apple even have testing machines running the new multi-core chips from IBM (starting at 3.00ghz) .. I just can't imagine apple throwing in the towel and turning around and saying "hey the G5's were great, but now we stick intel chips inside?"

Apple has shown they can port mac os (of the past) onto x86 so if they wanted to they could.

a mac tablet running a cut down OS X ... and running on an intel chip - why an intel chip in a tablet? i don't think it makes sense i just don't think its going to happen.
