It's like an acid trip that's been compressed into .swf format.  To forestall any questions of my character, I've never taken acid, nor any manner of mind altering drug.

Nice site.

I'm sitting here, listening to Alice in Chains, and I'm starting to think. It's the second time that a topic that in the end brings up drugs has risen. Shame however all that I see are pro drugs coments here. It's all very subjective, I know, but before some kid reads this and decides drugs must be cool, I just want to say my piece. I wasn't going to speak up, because people are alowed to do whatever they want, but as I said, I'm listening to Alice in Chains. Some of you kids out there may not know who they were. Alice in Chains was a grounge band from Seattle, and they surfed the grounge wave started by Nirvana(AIC is a better band if you ask me though). The lead singer was found dead in  his appartment in 2002, two weeks after he died. He died alone, and of an overdose. Guess I started to think about it because of this. However, I also have personal experience with drugs, perhaps more than most "normal" ppl, I don't know. I never really thought much about it until I talked to an old class mate who told me that a girl from my class had died of an OD. This was six years ago, and I started thinking about how many drug related incidents there had been in my life. The list wasn't short.

1 friend in jail because of being on drugs when he drove his car. He crashed, and ended up with the engine on his lap. Lucky he didn't die.
2 friends ran away from the same incident, again lucky
1 friend going to psychyatrist because of suicide attempt, drug abuse, social problems in genereal. And what caused the suicide attempt was an argument about a girl. I was the person he argued with(we don't speak anymore).
1 friend having constant flashbacks from ONE trip that went wrong(he had two trips on acide in his life..first was good).
1 friend was addicted to cocaine, managed to get away from it, but struggles with alcohol instead.
1 friend ended up using the drugs he was supposed to sell, and got beaten by his dealer(1000 pounds worth)
20 friends managed to use drugs without getting addicted, without doing stupid things on drugs, without it affecting their lives after they stopped.

So, all in all, 27 people that I know of in my life did drugs(there are most likely many more, we just don't talk about it anymore). 7 of them ended up doing stupid things on drugs. 5 of them had long term consequences. Do the maths, it's a high percentage. It might be my friends not handling their drugs very well. In the end, you chose if you want to do drugs yourself, and as I said, this is highly subjective. Many may have the same experience with alcohol. Just make sure you consider the fact that things MAY go bad.

Yeah I have lost friends to drugs also, but I don't blame the drugs, I blame them for not having their shit together.  I think one of the reasons why people promote drugs is because in America we are bombarded with anti-drug commercials that pretty much treat people like idiots and often times distort the truth in order to scare people away.  I've always viewed drugs as an experience like sky diving, or bungee jumping, they offer an extreme rush but there is always the risk that you may fall.

Drugs are the main reason I don't trust a word the U.S. Government sais... The whole ecstasy act "R.A.V.E. ACT" made me so mad.  Every single thing the U.S. Government claimed about ecstasy turned out completely wrong and yet, they made it sound so bad.  Then they refused to show the people the truth, until just last year in the form of a 60 Minute special narrated by Peter Jennings.  Not to turn this into an arguement about Ecstasy, but I was just saying, the U.S. Government is treating its people like sheep who follow their command.

just to add on to *NADS Lo$eMoney comment.

i blame society. statistics agree.

there are few drugs i haven't used, and rarely do i try something just once. 95% of the time i have a good experience. on the rare occasion something goes wrong, it is lack of education on the drug i'm taking or an unfortunate incident unrelated to the drug itself.

the united states has the absolute worst policy which promotes miseducation and threats, which only generates more curiosity and attraction to the "bad boy forbidden lifestyle" image in young people. they've basically turned drug use into a special clique in which to become a member all you have to do is eat a pill or smoke a leaf...and with all the repression in this society, even the slightest sense of social inferiority would compel a young person to get involved just for the sake of being a part of something exclusive. in actuality, drugs are nothing more then a passtime, or hobby...those who say otherwise are misusing them or are just plain ignorant....drugs would not create a lifestyle if they were socially accepted.

support the european movement to adopt a policy of Harm Reduction, rather then wasted attempts at prevention.

i hate to say it, but if drugs were legalized, i have a feeling there would be a mini modern day renaissance. think of all the untapped creativity, and wasted money that would suddenly be freed. any economy would benefit.

Unfortunately/fortunately, that will never happen, as the government would never admit it was wrong about something they've demonized for 50+ years. Plus, think of all the money they've spent on the war against drugs, and how many drug cartels we've assassinated. Just ain't gonna happen.
