Title: Mail & Address Book Problem, need some help
Post by: |MP|Nomad on April 29, 2005, 06:49:58 am
Hey fellas, I am having a problem with my Mail app and I was hoping someone here can shed some light to a solution. Here is the problem,  I have 2 email accounts set up through my Mail app that I use, my normal one with my full name and then my Nomad one for gaming emails.  Now the problem is with the Nomad one.  When I send emails using my Nomad account it sends it with my last name at the end of Nomad (ie. Nomad _____ mpnomad@rogers.com).  I finally realized after a while of looking into the Mail account preferences, that the problem actually stems from the Address Books vCard.  I looked up my name in there and it had Nomad ______ saved as a profile entry.  Well I thought I solved my problem.  I simply clicked on my name and then on edit and I deleted my last name from the entry, thinking it would solve the problem.  It did NOT!  I then went back and saw my last name beside Nomad again, and then realized that I had not clicked on save changes, so I did, thinking that would definetly fix it.

Well it did, at first!  But only if I click on address tab in Mail and then choose my name and click&drag or double-click it, But I like using Mail in the way that I would type in the first few letter of the email address and then Mail would show a list of possible emails to choose from, well when I did that, it would show up Nomad _______ again with my last name.

BUt I just saved the changes in Address Book, wtf!!! So, now I realize taht Mail, uses some kind of cache in that it remembers and even though I deleted my last name in Address Book and saved changes and did a repaired permissions and a reboot, TWICE!!

So, I was hoping someoine here could tell me how to clear the Mail app cache so that I won't get my last name showing up after Nomad.  thanks guys.

No need to reply, just consulted the Apple forums and found the solution.  For those that want to know, all you do is simply go to the menu bar in Mail and click on Window drop down menu and then select Previous Recipients and in there a dialog box will open with past people/email address, find the culprit in there and delete the sucker, and poof!! Problem solved.   ::applause::

No goofus,

 ::lol::

his first name is NOT Nomad..hence thats why this is a problem.
It was a gaming address that was placing his pseudonym in the email addy bar AND adding his real last name...(whereas his normal email contains both real first and last names)

it would be like you sending me an email with VoodooJones....when your email addres is merely voodo.

He has a kick ass real name by the way...
