i have a 1.8 G5 imac with 1gb ram and i am running 10.3.9 as of yesterday the computer was fine i shut it down fine no problems, then i go and turn it on today and the apple screen just starts to TRIP OUT, it looks like someone put a video effect on it. it shakes and black lines show up and trip out. then i goes to the loading screen and all looks fine. but once i log in and open an app the comp just goes insaine and the screen just turns into diagnole lines with diff color.

i heard about this problem and you can read about it here (http://discussions.info.apple.com/webx?128@1009.l48Wa2yWQ7o.170629@.68a31fdd). it's a hardware problem in some early G5 iMacs and a part needs to be replaced. you should bring/send it to the place you bought it so they can do that, has to be for free.

I would call Apple first, they tend to demand Apple Care Case Numbers when doing repairs these days.

Since your iMac is still under warranty, take it to apple. They will replace the midplane! That's what's wrong with it!
