Title: April Quiz-Part II Post by: BTs_GhostSniper on April 07, 2005, 07:29:52 pm Here it is, the April Quiz! This month, the quiz will be split into 3 sections, each containing 3 questions. The winner of each section will receive $20 Cash (U.S.), and the winner of the most sections will receive $20 Cash (there will be a tie-breaker question if needed). Also, there will be a 10th question that will be a bonus, also worth $20 Cash. That's $100 up for grabs for the April Quiz! I will post one section each Friday, with the bonus question following on the 4th Friday of the month (April 22).
This Quiz is about World War II: 4. What was the fastest airplane to see active squadron service during WWII? (hint--this does not include experimental aircraft) 5. Which member of the bombing raid on Japan of April 18, 1942, commanded SAC's first B-58 Wing after the war? 6. What was the largest ship sunk during WWII? (hint--largest in terms of displacement) That's the second section, good luck! (I will not be on until Saturday or Sunday, so the first person with the correct answers in my e-mail gets the prize...if need be, I will e-mail you the ones you got wrong when I get back from New Orleans) Title: Re: April Quiz-Part II Post by: bloodanguts on April 07, 2005, 09:37:23 pm Well... Hmmmm, bloodandguts' e-mail went through fine to ghostsniper@battleteksquad.com. Try resending it there first, and if that doesn't work just send me a pm on here. Of course, my e-mail may just automatically be rejecting accounts from Austria (my wife is from Austria...lol). ;) Title: Re: April Quiz-Part II Post by: *DAMN Elandrion on April 07, 2005, 11:36:07 pm hehe sure... i'll send you a pm
Title: Re: April Quiz-Part II Post by: bloodanguts on April 08, 2005, 12:11:38 am Wee... I think I got it now. Displacement figures were a bit sketchy, which is what messed me up at first.

Title: Re: April Quiz-Part II Post by: BTs_GhostSniper on April 08, 2005, 01:13:08 am Congratulations to bloodandguts on winning the second section of the April Quiz!
The correct answers are: 4. The Me-163 Komet, at 596 mph, was the fastest aircraft to see service during WWII. 5. Brig General Everett W. Holstrom commanded SAC's First Supersonic Bombardment Wing, a B-58 Hustler Wing. 6. The Japanese SuperCarrier Shinano, which after additional armor were added to it and the Yamato, still outweighed the Yamato by a good 200 tons. Be on the lookout for Part III of the April Quiz coming next Friday![/size] Title: Re: April Quiz-Part II Post by: *DAMN Elandrion on April 08, 2005, 01:31:18 am ah, that was close. I really thought the Yamato/Musashi were the biggest ships... at the wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_battleship_Yamato) of the Yamato they even give a higher displacement figure than for the Shinano (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_aircraft_carrier_Shinano)
Title: Re: April Quiz-Part II Post by: bloodanguts on April 08, 2005, 02:35:17 am That threw me off originaly too, but also note that a) the Yamoto's is maxes, and b) its not the normal load, which is more like 68,000.
