I know a lot of this depends on the system you have, but I was wondering what others are using for resolution...mouse sensitivity, general settings ?

Willing to share?

I run a G5 1.8 17" w/ 1 GB DDR....
Screen is set at 1024x640x16  but I'm experimenting with other constantly!
Mouse sensitivity is 0.5
Pretty much all graphic settings are in the medium range.
FPS tend to be around 30-50

I've got a 700 MhZ G4 iMac 15" Flatscreen.
Play GhR at 1024x768x16.
Mouse sensitivity of .2 or .1
Graphics are all on low.
I turned of my display FPS because it was getting dissapointing but I usually get single digits, teens and maybe into the 20's.

I play with a res of 1600x1200x32 and i can't do anything with a res any lower!!
Mouse sensitivity is normally about  0.1 or 0.2
Pretty much all graphic settings are in the bottom range.

damn u GS, Im on a g3 iBook and run it on the largest res, I am lucky to get fps in the teens

I run it at 1680x1050x32 on my 20" Apple Cinema Display — looks damn purty on this monitor.

I don't bother displaying framerate, because it is always faster than the pixel response of my monitor.  I'm really not sure about mouse sensitivity off the top of my head.

Hah hah.  If I had bought it to play Ghost recon, you would've been right.

I don't actually own too many computer games, though, so I play games on my GameCube, not Mac.  The G5 gets used for game development by me, and Maya rendering and video editing by my brother.  I consider every dollar well spent — it's a very, very nice machine, and keeps up nicely when we put it through its paces.

Why is it a waste?

Such a nice computer running such a shitty game.


For Ghost Recon ( BFG made me play it to reaffirm my hate for it ):1280x854x32. Max graphics, but no shadows.

For Raven Shield: 1152x768, max graphics, no shadows.

AA: 1024x768 ( no wide screen ), everything on Ultra High, including Shadows, max decals.

1.5GHZ Powerbook G4
128MB ATI Radeon 9700
512MB RAM ( soon to be 2GB, as soon as my RAM arrives, probably tomorrow ).

AA has wide screen..thats what I am using.

It displays 3 resolutions for me: 640x480, 800x600 and 1024x768

AA has more than 3 for me, but of course none widescreen.

it depends on your graphics card and display what respectively how many resolutions it shows, not only in AA.

I think typhy has the 64MB 9700 or 128MB. Either way it should show the wide-screens.

leaves the graphics card as causer..... because it's a Mobility version i guess.

I'd say the porter is the causer... I can't believe I used that word... they decided not to support the proper resolutions for powerbooks.

I'm using 1024*768*16 with all details on high. The reason why i don't use 1280*1024 is that for some reasons the command maps doesn't scale properly and the chat text is incredible large...

My G4 633 laptop works better on 1024x864x32mb than 16mb...i don't get it. Its hell to play with on 16mb.

I've noticed with a 9600 Pro that there are many errors in AA. One of which is having 30% visible yellow blobs on every surface. These blobs can be deactivated by turning off some weird cube map stuff...or at-least I think that's what I did.

That's really weird, what kind of graphics card do you have?

standard G4 laptop card...i.e. havn't got a clue.I know its weird i was over joyed when i switched from 16 to 32 made such a improvement on fps.

Seeing as there's no such thing as a 633 processor in the powerbooks ever... I'll assume you mean 667. In which case the graphics card you have is a ATI Radeon Mobility with 16MB of VRAM. And yes there are not any numbers associated with that card, being a original Radeon.

P.S. Perhaps you were confusing 667 with it's 133 bus speed.

Who owns the computer? I will continue to spit on gaming on laptops until they release a decent processor or bus speed. On the topic of bus speeds, be comforted in the fact that despite the 1GHz increase in top speeds in laptops since your 667 top of the line, the bus has only moved 33 MHz. What does that mean you ask? The speed of the new powerbooks isn't all that flashy and will only move a bit because of low buses, thus why G5s will forever own G4s.

On a comical side note: Freescale (aka motorola) has a roadmap to bring G4 busses over 500-600 MHz, which also included a dual core 64bit G4 within a year. The funny part you ask? This roadmap seems like one from about 2002.

I want apple to bring out a dual processor Mac mini, just so i can afford a big ass screen when i buy one.

Supposing freescale releases it's dual core G4s, that would ensure all G4 macs become dual processors whilst the G5 Powermac becomes a quad.

I changed my res to the biggest widescreen 1200 something x768 something and the HUD is all like someone sat on them, anyone know a way of making them go back to normal under this res?

erm just turn off or on the "scale HUD" option in your user settings  (unless you mean its got all might scqashed in which case go up to 1200x1024 or 800x600 ect rather than trying to view widescreen)

in the GhR Options somewhere you have two checkboxes that say "Scale Command Map" and " Scale HUD". check or uncheck 'em, one should do the trick (it's important to restart the game, after checking or unchecking, to take effect).
