Title: Another Close Combat Movie posted - thoughts about teamplay Post by: .vooDoo. on February 03, 2005, 01:22:55 am http://www.insidemacgames.com/features/view.php?ID=334#
This title continues to look very promising, and a simultaneous Mac/PC/Xbox release is currently planned to happen in March 2005. Hope to see you all on the battle grounds. I know I will be dedicating my mac to host this game as soon as it comes out. voo Title: Re: Close Combat: First to Fight Post by: crypt on February 03, 2005, 01:42:36 am I am planning on getting the Xbox version. I hope to see a few of you on Live.
Title: Re: Close Combat: First to Fight Post by: .vooDoo. on February 03, 2005, 01:50:30 am Ive been reading a bit tonight at work (boring here) and from what I gather it is only going to be a 4 vs. 4 Multiplayer game. I have a feeling this will impact the potential sales of this game. I hope they up it to at least 5 vs. 5.
voo Title: Re: Close Combat: First to Fight Post by: *DAMN Mauti on February 03, 2005, 08:33:20 am It depends on the maps and the way you are forced to doteamplay - e.g. if its teamplay turns out to be like the one of Capture the Enemy 4vs4 is more than enough in my opinion.
However I also think the game is promising I only hope they don't focus too much on single player and their "USMC" tactics. Bye, Mauti Title: Re: Close Combat: First to Fight Post by: crypt on February 03, 2005, 02:03:26 pm I don't think this will impact the game too much, I mean look how much fun 4v4 RvS and GhR is.
Title: Re: Close Combat: First to Fight Post by: Civrock on February 03, 2005, 02:05:25 pm and it's most probably going to have GameRanger (http://www.gameranger.com) support right away. :)
Title: Re: Close Combat: First to Fight Post by: BFG on February 03, 2005, 02:05:55 pm true in terms of a 2 team 4v4 CB its just about bleeding perfect! for normal 'fun games' its probably different... I had thought i read somewhere that there would be an open 'free for all' type game mode allowing more than 8 players.. might have just been my imagination however! :(
lol are you being paid by Scott for plugging GR civic? ;) Title: Re: Close Combat: First to Fight Post by: BTs_Mysterio on February 03, 2005, 05:38:10 pm I still think this game will have a major splash on GR mainly because of it's low low low requirements.
Title: Re: Close Combat: First to Fight Post by: DarK. on February 03, 2005, 09:08:40 pm I really cant find the game requirments, does anyone else know them?
Title: Re: Close Combat: First to Fight Post by: spike on February 03, 2005, 09:21:46 pm I remember them being something like 400-600mhz :o
Title: Re: Close Combat: First to Fight Post by: BTs_Mysterio on February 03, 2005, 09:26:41 pm Min was 450 MHz, dev said its over 500 now.
Title: Re: Close Combat: First to Fight Post by: Croosch on February 03, 2005, 10:41:14 pm it looks like this game could be a winner... with requirements that low I think this game may have potential to be as big as GhR was on the mac... we'll see
I know I'll be buying it. Title: Re: Close Combat: First to Fight Post by: BTs_Mysterio on February 03, 2005, 11:42:12 pm I think it's price is listed under $40 too. The marines may pwn the Army in game development after this one.
Title: Re: Close Combat: First to Fight Post by: DarK. on February 04, 2005, 12:21:33 am I was wondering about processor and Disc speeds needed (like do I need a DVD drive and is it G3 compatable, but are there any 600 mhz G4's?)
Title: Re: Close Combat: First to Fight Post by: spike on February 04, 2005, 12:43:51 am ...old ones
Title: Re: Close Combat: First to Fight Post by: DarK. on February 04, 2005, 12:48:35 am damn you for not answering my question, will it work on G3's
Title: Re: Close Combat: First to Fight Post by: Croosch on February 04, 2005, 01:07:16 am It will probably "work" but it may not run... well
Title: Re: Close Combat: First to Fight Post by: .vooDoo. on February 04, 2005, 02:52:17 am Remember, 500 mhz requirements are just the minimum spec's. If you want the game to look its best in all its glory you will need G5 1.6 with a 64mb Graphic's card or better. Just look at RvS, minimum specs are 800mhz? I have a 1ghz desktop with 1 gig ram and ATI 8500 w/64mb vram and it runs like pooooooo.
voo Title: Re: Close Combat: First to Fight Post by: Typhy on February 04, 2005, 03:39:40 am I had a 1GHZ G4 with 1GB RAM and a 64MB graphics card, and RvS ran fine. I've got a 1.5GHZ G4 with 512 RAM and a 128MB card now and it runs about the same. I do think some of that "low system requirements" stuff is bullshit. By the time it's released, I imagine it'll require at least 800Mhz.

Title: Another Close Combat Movie posted - thoughts about teamplay Post by: *DAMN Mauti on February 05, 2005, 06:53:24 pm Today another tutorial movie from Close Combat First to Fight was posted. You can view it here: http://www.insidemacgames.com/features/view.php?ID=336.
This game looks really promising and I might ask myself what hardware requirements it will have because the engine looks very nice so far, further how strict the mp will be compared to the single player. Do you have to use the support gun, can you take every weapon only once!? At all I think this could be an interesting point of a game, where everyone has to play a different role. I still love the support gun in GhR, but whenever you use it everyone will shout that you lag them... Well back to CC - I think this game could get fresh air into the used GhR and RvS tactics, at all these both games are the same for years now. The tactics how you move and play are still similiar to the old R6 way. Of course GhR was more different but it ends up that you can feel the same guys have made it. BF for example has a completely different aspect of teamplay and when you cb or play against very good GhR or RvS players you immediately notice that they have no chance with their traditional way of teamplay. So I really hope to see more BF games once it has GameRanger support and in the middle of the year we also hopefully can already play Close Combat. Bye, Mauti Title: Re: Another Close Combat Movie posted - thoughts about teamplay Post by: crypt on February 07, 2005, 05:18:59 am I'm just glad to see games come to Consoles/PC/Mac simultaneously. Good for the industry.
Title: Re: Another Close Combat Movie posted - thoughts about teamplay Post by: |MP|Nomad on February 09, 2005, 08:50:50 pm I told you guys about this game months ago when it was first mentioned. It going to be released sametime as all 3 platforms, and its not a port for Mac, its being coded for Mac, so we can expect to have high FPS like PC gamers finally, wouldnt be surprised if its in the low-mid 100s. Thats probably why it requires low syst req's. thoughts?

The first Coop movie released.... interesting!! Title: Re: Another Close Combat Movie posted - thoughts about teamplay Post by: *DAMN Mauti on February 19, 2005, 12:58:50 am A new Close Combat movie has been released: http://www.insidemacgames.com/features/view.php?ID=338
The game still looks really promising however I would like to see some hardware requirements. Further the movies always only show PC or XBox version. Will the Mac version really be released at the same time!? I hope so we may can already add it for season XI =) Bye, Mauti Title: Re: Another Close Combat Movie posted - thoughts about teamplay Post by: .vooDoo. on February 19, 2005, 01:37:26 am Pre Ordered mine today.
