This article on devmaster.net (http://www.devmaster.net/articles/source-vs-doom3/) compares the Source engine (Half Life 2) with ID's Doom 3 engine... quite an interesting read.

Except one thing, it would be best to wait for Unreal engine 3 to judge engines like this. They are basically the same generation.

Interesting read, but yeah damn DirectX... if we will ever see Source Engine games ported to Mac? It would be a tough job for Ryan to translate every graphic command from Direct X to OpenGL...

Very very interesting. Just reaffirms my absolute disgust for DirectX though ;) Long live OpenGL! If only more people would see it as a real contender as a graphics API if not at least a viable alternative to DirectX
