Title: This'll qualify me as official forum lardass...
Post by: *NADS Capt. Anarchy on January 13, 2005, 06:36:43 am
Aye, so I was at Burger King the other day, looking over their menu, and I noticed something interesting. A Bacon double cheeseburger combo costs $3.99. Now, I love cheeseburgers, esp. with bacon, but the double cheeseburger combo is only $2.99, so I usually go for it instead. Yea, that's right, a lardass and a cheapskate. Bite me.

But then, on an off chance I glanced over at the value menu. What's this? A bacon cheeseburger for 99 cents? Am I dreaming? Nope. So, I found a new meal... the bacon triple cheeseburger, only $3.98 at a Burger King near you!

God bless those silly people who come up with their price lists. Anybody else notice little price irregularities like this? I see them all over the place. A two pack of Pringles at K-Mart, $2.48. Single tubes, 98 cents a piece.

I NEVER eat at burger king (that shit will kill you), but I like the way you are thinking.   I can add to little grifts to the list...

1 - You can go to COMPusa and by a $90 Epson inkjet C86 printer for example, take it home do all your printing until you deplete the ink that is included with it, then you can take it back in two weeks for a refund, where they will charge you a 15% "restocking" fee which is $13.50.   This $13.50 is significantly less than the ammount it costs to replace the ink:  about $53.00.  $39.99 for the color and atleast $12.99 for the Black.   This would work especially well if you were printing alot in one burst or if you deplete cartidges every two weeks.

2 - How to save a little money buying a mac.   Two things brought the cost of my last Mac down a bit.   One I bought it refreshed from the Apple Store saving %10 off of $2500 (powerbook superdrive).   But I also bought it at the time when Panther was released, and when a new OS is released the Apple store has a 'party' and for all the instock computers they put an additional 'drop-in' software update.   So bascially I got jaguar DVDs and a panther upgrade cd.  Which because it was in such demand at the time, I just sold on ebay for $100.   You might think, you should have just kept it, which is true, but at the time of buying th epowerbook I was on the cusp of getting a reg. powerbook 15" vs getting powerbook 15" with superdrive.   Realizing it would be much more diffcult to upgrade the hardware, I decided to forego Panther for the time being and upgrade that later.  All in all  I saved $350 of the purchase of a powerbook "15.   I imagine a similar thing might happen with the release of Tiger, so I will try to time any new CPU purchase with that release.   Any have a date?

Mmmmmm...lard...</homer moment>

Er, what?  I agree, Burger King, and most all fast food places are death incarnate.  Never ever eat there, only time i would is if there is a positively zero % chance of finding food anywhere else, and i havent eaten a few days.

And about the Pringles price difference that you noted, that's common with a lot of mass-produced products, because of the stores marking up prices.  The markup, i assume, increases when items are packaged together like that.  Unless youre buying bulk (of pringles? Hm)  I find its usually a better idea to get single items, since as you noted, they're cheaper.  (This isnt a set rule, but it's what ive found)
