Apple Sails Over the Bar

Apple (AAPL:Nasdaq - news - research) blew through analysts earnings expectations for its holiday quarter, the company announced on Wednesday.

In its fiscal first quarter, which ended Dec. 25, the computer and electronics company earned $295 million, or 70 cents a share. That was a big gain over the $63 million, or 17 cents a share, the company earned in the same quarter a year ago.

Sales at the Cupertino, Calif.-based company jumped 74% to $3.49 billion.

(Not bad from a company that was forecasted a few years ago to close up shop)

And after-hour trading shows Apple's stock up $8.00 a share around $73-
(Nice since I bought my 100 shares at $9.00 each)

I saw my local news channel gave Apple amazing reviews and announced all the new Apple products.  It's great to see Apple finally oppening up to the public more... keep luring those PC users to Apple ;D

The NY times article on the mini said that they weren't expecting the mini to have any big effect on Apple's market share. However, they pointed out that even a small change would influence more software creators to write more software for mac.

I think we can safely say that MacMini will not go down the same route as the Cube :D
