Title: Merry Christmas and a happy new year! Post by: *DAMN Mauti on December 24, 2004, 10:21:37 am A wonderful good morning everyone,
first I wish you all a merry christmas. 2004 had a lot of up and downs: 2 played seasons, 1 aborted season, complete new system, server downtime since mid october, *DBL tournament, increasing number of cbs, introduction of a FFA ladder, Battlefield addition and *DAMN server sessions, and a lot more, too much to write down everything. The biggest issue *DAMN faced in its history is the downtime of our, GameSpy's, server, which is still a problem, because GameSpy disabled a few script languages. As a consequence *DAMN gonna move to a new host with all files except our mods, which we still gonna host on FilePlanet, so we can offer you all our services again in 2005(finally only 1 forum ;)) The next *DBL season probably gonna start at the end of january but more details once we have moved. So have nice holidays and a happy new year, see you all in 2005, Mauti Title: Re:Merry Christmas and a happy new year! Post by: Typhy on December 24, 2004, 11:37:29 am December 24th, 2004: Ladders for Raven Shield and GHR. Many of the problems facing the BL are due to it having been a league designed for a much smaller community, and we now face the issues of a massive community. December 24th, 2003: Raven Shield has just been released. *DAMN will include a ladder for it, as well as for GHR, and 1v1 ladders for RS and R6. December 24th 2002: I was unbanned from GameRanger after 7 months, as were many others as a christmas present from Evill. Everday during my 7 month ban, I would go to GR and hit "log in" in a vain hope that someday it'd work. When I did this on Christmas Eve, right before I went to church, to my amazement, it worked. I quickly changed my name, fearing that it may have just been a fluke and not wanting to get banned again. The first person I messaged was Viper to brag. ;) Finally I got to go back to hitting a "join button" rather than getting IPs from people on AIM. Rogue Spear is the most popular game, Rainbow Six is still in the top 5. *DAMN offers ladders for Rogue Spear and Rainbow Six. I'm was a member of |AK|. December 24th, 2001: *DAMN "Preseason" has just begun. With the points system, you don't lose any points for lost CBs. This season ran until May, with AK winning with a 26-9 ( I think ) record. I hadn't even registered my Typhy forum account which now has over 3,000 posts. December 24th, 2000: *DAMN is only 6 months old. Rainbow Six is the most popular game, Rogue Spear Demo hasn't been released yet. *DAMN servers have not yet moved to Gamespy ( or were we moved to gamespy at that point? ) The top 3 clans are POD, SEALs and *DAMN ( some would add in SiX ). December 24th 1999: *DAMN doesn't exist. Rainbow Six doesn't exist. I played Bolo. No idea what the most popular game was. I was 11 years old. I THINK all my facts are right. It's been a fun 4 years. Members come and go, but the community has always stayed together. God bless you all, and happy holidays! Title: Re:Merry Christmas and a happy new year! I shall be returning after my 4 month hiatus! Yes, the ol' van down by the river is getting hooked up with the internet in a week or so. As I'm sure most of you know, my return to the *DAMN forum will be the best late Christmas present anyone has ever received. Well, since my friend's rich uncle got mauled by polar bears in the frigid Arctic wastelands and left his fortune to him. So, hang up some decorations and such and expect my return somewhat promptly. Well, 2 weeks, give or take a week. I've missed you all, especially my red-headed Austrian sexkitten. Merry Christmas, Happy Chakgajawngngenaka, Happy Kwanza, Mister Mellow.
