Title: Sheep Herding or Hoarding?
Post by: Ein on October 11, 2004, 05:39:13 am
When the sheep idea was introduced at the beginning of the season, I thought it was a great idea. You could wager as many or as few sheep as you wanted depending on if your better players were on or who you were facing. However, it does not seem that all clans saw it as I did.

Clans register for ladders and even participate in matches and then refuse to cb. Why did your clan enter the ladder if you were not going to participate?

Also some members of clans have spoken to me about not being allowed to cb unless the better playing members were involved in the cb even though they had plenty of members online and willing to play(just not the best ones I guess). Now wasnt that what the whole sheep idea was about? It gave the "not so good" members of clans the opportunity to play and prove themselves while not having to risk a lot of sheep in the process.

Also clans will agree to cbs but then spend over an hour doing lagtests and then eventually even back out or just run out of time and have our clan rush through it at a very late hour of the night for us US players. If the ping is bad for both clans, why not just bet less sheep and still play? Once again, isnt that what the sheep idea was created for? To try to increase the number of cbs?

The unfortunate thing is that I am stating this problem without knowing a way to fix it. I believe the only way to fix the problem is for clans to use the sheep system for what it was created for. To encourage CBs. But I can not inforce this with clans. Only the clans can work that out.  And unfortunately I see many more "No, were not allowed to CB" responses in the future.

Oh well,
Ein

I hear ya Ein. Unfortunately, it is up to the clans to learn the "fine art" of a 1 sheep cb without any of their good players.

Said it once and I'll say it again.  The only way this season will be run in a truly "fair" way is to have a set schedule which has each clan plays every other clan at least once.

Is that ever gonna happen?  No.  So STFU Ein, you asshole.

About the sheep system: well it succeded in many ways: at half time we had already over 200 clans cbs played, compared to 300 during the complete last season. So activity raised a lot, except the last few days were it became much more silent.

Bye,

Mauti

Could that possibly be because you banned the most active clan on all the ladders?

Could Is VIC Island Stool Another Natural Against Zap Is.

You are hereby warned for blatant flaming, Typhy. - Mauti

Mmm, well check out the rvs ladder. Dr has the fifth highest win rate(.25) and yet is in tenth. Three of the clans ahead of dr have win rates of 0.00. We have played 27 games, also the fifth highest. Course, we lost most of em. What I'm really saying that is dr. should get the spirit award...and a bonus of 50 sheep cause are actually willing to cb even though we arent that good.
