Title: What if...
Post by: c| Spetsnaz. on October 06, 2004, 10:19:01 pm
This is not such a far out scenario: (http://homepage.mac.com/spetsnaz2/.Pictures/Picture%203.jpg)

Blue are Kerry States and Red are Bush states. It takes 270 EV to win the Presidency.

Do you know who wins in that scenario?

George W. Bush.

Do you know why?

Because the supreme court is corrupt?

Because the supreme court is corrupt?

Absolutely.  And it's funny that they are mostly liberals and moderates....very few conservatives.

Oh, and also, by your own admission...Bush would have to win by the simple fact that he took Ohio.

P.S.  Where is my John Kerry picture in uniform???[/size]

I think if that happened the world would simply explode.

Probably. - not a nice clean explosion as well - it would be a f*ck off big dirty bomb type explosion with lots of screaming involved.

No no, i mean like, the whole planet.  The whole thing would just spontaniously explode and turn into space dust.  The collective hatred of the Democrats and Republicans at the outcome would finally just blow the planet up in one fell swoop.

Yeah exactly - with a massive explosion lots of people flying all over the place and lots of horrible screaming and death groans... lovely in other words! ;)

Well it will probably happen at this rate anyway...

Supreme Court is pretty conservative GS. Maybe they are liberal compared to you, but most of them are Reagan and Dubya appointees.

As for that scenario, that is when the canidates bare knuckle box in an arena until one of them dies. The looser gets his head put on a pike infront of Washington. This is obviously the most logical and civilized conclusion.

Obviously.

For the record, in the event of no candidate getting 270 electoral votes, the House of Representatives gets to vote on the President with one vote per state (the various Representatives have to settle on one.) Bush would win as he has more Represenntatives in more states.

Awh, don't worry.

Kerry in a landslide electoral victory.

You're all forgetting the most fun part of that scenario - if the EC ties, the House votes only on the President, and each state delegation is given one vote.  The Senate votes on the Vice President.  Also, current makeup of the House isn't what matters - the vote is taken after the newly elected Congressmen are sworn in.  Thus, depending on which parties gain or lose seats in each body, there really are four possible outcomes:

Bush - Cheney
Kerry - Edwards
Bush - Edwards !!!
Kerry - Cheney !!!

Yep, it could happen.  I think that's the point that the world would start its pyrotechnics.  But my vote is that we implode and get flipped inside out.  An explosion is too predictable.

Ah yes...that fun stuff. I'm almost hopeful something happens that motivates Americans for wholesale electoral reform so we finally have a democracy in the US instead of just pushing them on everyone else.
