That's not the first time that company has claimed that it had this technology. From the fine print (mostly in the form of demos that they've given), it seems that it is not, in fact cross-platform. Instead, at least at present, it primarily allows flavors of Unix to run software intended for other flavors of Unix. (One of the demos: Linux Quake III on OS X) The technical claim they're making (a universal recompiler) IS possible. At least in principle. In actuality, it's an extremely difficult technical miracle to accomplish. If they've done it, everyone will be amazed. But it's far more likely that they've simply implemented a subset of "universal" recompiling.

Yeah i must confess my first though was "they used QIII for Linux rather than Windows??" - its actually not hard to get Linux apps running under X...

What i havn't been able to find anyinformation about was a piece of software underdevelopment that could deal with the piece of shit also known as microsofts "DirectX" ...normally the reason why we get shit ports which run great on PC's and crap on Macs... This software could work its way through the direct X code and produce you with a mac friendly, smaller, more optomised chunk of code that well sounded very inpressive.

If it really appeared it would mean that the speed and quality of games using DirectX would be hugely inproved - one of the reasons these ports run badly on macs is down to the horrible Usless DirectX code..

... not heard a thing about it for about eight months though..
