Post by: memory on August 25, 2004, 06:28:37 pm
I am 16 years old, use word, ichat, rvs, ghost recon, gameranger, americas army, itunes and some other programs and was wondering how much memory do you think i need with my 1.25GHz eMac.  I dont use too many extensive programs.
Thanks

Hello memory :)

Straight up, u want 512MB of RAM minimum and if you like your games id suggest you push that up to 1Gig  - you can never have to much RAM and it will keep a smile on your mac :D

i would get 768mb. the eMac ships with 256mb, so i would put a 512mb block in it.

i have 768mb myself, and it doesn't seem to make a bottleneck.

1GB (only)... iMacs and eMacs.

Then I would compare the prices for the 768 and 1 gig.  you might get a cheaper rate if you go with 1 gig.

Get as much as you can pay for... ghost recon doesn't need much, but RvS definitely does.

How would i know? I have a G5 and I get like 20-25 fps in Raven Shield because i only have 256 ram.   :\

Gabe you can get plenty of RAM for dirt cheap @ MacSolutions.com  1 GB, 512 x2 RAM, is $147.  Its been cheaper, but still, its pretty good, considering it gets a lifetime warrenty.

Max out your RAM. RAM is the easiest and cheapest way to improve your overall performance, for both regular use and games.

MacSolutions was where i was thinking of getting it... although i think 1 GB (512 x2) is $179.

Either way, i have about $150, and i gotta buy birthday gifts, gas for my car, and i'm gonna need a haircut pretty soon too.  So ill just wait till christmas ;0
