Title: BF1942 and/or CoD for the league Post by: Aramarth on August 23, 2004, 03:01:25 am Before you read: This thread is here to discuss rules, not the possibility or reality of a ladder. If you are here to scream about your opinions on whether we should have a ladder or not, you are not welcome.
The league is considering creating a ladder for BF1942 and or CoD. We need some people who play these games to speculate on what the server setup rules should be for cbs. Please do not post links, post what they say here for us to see. Example from the current Ghost Recon rules: Quote Game Mode: TEAM Game Type(s): LMS, WARZONE (Version 2.0 is required which is included with the *DBL map pack 1.5), DOMINATION or *DBL DOMINATION (showing up as *DBL in your GR server game mode list. *DBL DOMINATION adds also the recon points as key locations) Respawns: OFF Invulnerable Time: 5 Threat Indicator: OFF Random Insertions: ON Slot 2: RED Slot 3: YELLOW Time Limit: 10 MIN Auto Timer Start: OFF Kit Restrictions: OFF Record Game: ON Friend of Foe Indicator: ON (NAMES) I hope this gives you a good idea of what we are looking for. :) Below I have a set of rules from a pc gaming league, which you may start with as we work toward what we like best. BF1942: Quote Type of Gameplay: Conquest Number of Maps: 1 (first to win 2 rounds, wins the match) Number of Squads: 2 Members per Squad: 5 Time Limit: 20 minutes per round. Friendly Fire: On (No Exceptions) Rounds: 2 Mods: None Map Selection: Random **Maps are to be played in the order listed** Server Set Up Information Server Settings The required server settings are listed below. game.serverName "Official TWL Server " game.serverPassword "twlmatch" game.serverDedicated 1 game.serverInternet 1 game.serverMaxPlayers 14 game.serverGameTime 20 game.serverScoreLimit 0 game.serverNumberOfRounds 10 Game.setServerWelcomeMessage 0 "TWL Ladder Match" game.ServerBandwidthChokeLimit 0 Game.serverGamePlayMode GPM_CQ game.serverSpawnTime 10 game.serverSpawnDelay 3 game.serverGameStartDelay 60 game.serverTicketRatio 225 game.serverAlliedTeamRatio 0 game.serverAxisTeamRatio 0 game.serverSoldierFriendlyFire 100 game.serverVehicleFriendlyFire 100 game.serverSoldierFriendlyFireOnSplash 100 game.serverVehicleFriendlyFireOnSplash 100 game.serverKickBack 0 game.serverKickBackOnSplash 0 game.ServerNameTagDistance 100 game.ServerNameTagDistanceScope 300 game.ServerFreeCamera 0 game.ServerExternalViews 1 game.ServerAutoBalanceTeams 0 game.ServerAllowNoseCam 1 game.serverIP game.serverPort 14567 game.setServerHitIndication 1 game.setServerTKPunishMode 1 game.serverCrossHairCenterPoint 1 game.serverDeathCameraType 0 game.serverContentCheck 1 game.serverEventLogging 0 game.serverEventLogCompression 0 game.serverPunkBuster 1 CoD: Quote Type of Game play: Search and Destroy Number of Maps: 1 Number of Squads: 2 Time Limit: 4 Minutes per round Rounds per map: 20/1 OT (first to win 11 rounds wins the match) Rounds per side: 10 Friendly Fire: On (No Exceptions) set sv_pure "1" g_allowvote "0" set sv_minPing "0" set sv_maxPing "999" set scr_sd_graceperiod "15" set scr_sd_roundlimit "0" set scr_sd_roundlength "4" set scr_sd_scorelimit "0" set scr_sd_timelimit "0" set scr_friendlyfire "1" set scr_drawfriend "1" set scr_allow_fg42 "0" set scr_allow_panzerfaust "0" If you want to give input, please post before Tuesday. Nothing needs to be fixed those are good rules for us 1337 players.

Title: Re:BF1942 and/or CoD for the league Post by: KoS.Rebel on August 23, 2004, 03:27:18 am Allrighty. Here is how its gonna roll boys and girls. ALL players participating in the CoD ladder will need to download pam v105 from this link http://killersonspree.com/macshoutcasting/pam105a.zip . Then read the read me and install the files. Pam is an easy to use server tool. After installing you must follow the next instructions.
Open your console and type the following commands /rconPassword "place any password here without quotes for the admins to log into rcon with" /rcon pam_mode cal /rcon map_restart After the last command your server should restart the map and in the top left you should see the words Pam Mode and upon joining the game everyone must ready up. If this DOES NOT happen please follow the directions again. If the directions do not work for some reason contact me to get a quick fix. In order for matches to run smoothly everyone needs to stay in spectator mode until all players from both teams have arrived. Title: Re:BF1942 and/or CoD for the league Post by: th.Sentinel on August 23, 2004, 05:22:46 pm The TWL server settings for BF look fine, the only thing I noticed was the spawntime that normally is on 1 or 5. Maybe the 10 secs is some kind of punishement for dying.
I also noticed there wasn't any indication of who will be on what team. Will teams be switched during game? Because some maps give an advantage to a certain team, for example better placement on the map or better weapons and transportation. Another question: Desert Combat... is it allowed? Or will it be obliged like the *DAMN mappack. If it will be included both clans would have to decide before the cb starts what mod they'll play. For the moment I can't think of anything else...it's a great game and it would be fun to fight with airplanes and tanks in a cb for once. Title: Re:BF1942 and/or CoD for the league Post by: KGB on August 24, 2004, 12:25:39 pm Another question.
Will there be GR support for BF in the future ? and Who is playing BF ? Core & Toxic play it, and I saw voodoo playing it, but who else ? Title: Re:BF1942 and/or CoD for the league Post by: Civrock on August 24, 2004, 12:28:06 pm Another question. Will there be GR support for BF in the future ? and Who is playing BF ? Core & Toxic play it, and I saw voodoo playing it, but who else ? 1. you have to ask Evill for that... ;) 2. haven't really seen any other clans playing it so far, unfortunately... it needs a lot of players to be really fun because of the big maps etc... as mentioned in my first post in this thread. that doesnt make it very attractive clan- and ladder-wise, in my opinion. Title: Re:BF1942 and/or CoD for the league Post by: KoS Ultimo on August 26, 2004, 03:40:41 am PAM for cod does all of the work for you!
It switches sides for the players so the players don't have to do it. It shows which team wins, it gives halftime and many other cool features. PAM also waits until everyone ready's up so the match won't begin with someone not rdy.CoD is one of the easiest games to have a clan war in its so fun and should definatley be taken into consideration. |
