Title: Alive, still no internet, and Hurricane Charley was a poofter. Post by: Mr.Mellow on August 16, 2004, 01:01:56 am Using the internet at my parent's place right now. Just wanted to tell you all a quick Hurricane Charley story. Well. Not much of a story cuz the hurricane was weak, pathetic, and crappy, even though it went straight through my area. I saw the sky strobing green and red for a few minutes, then I realized it was power transformers blowing up. Then the power went out. Power was out for about 24 hours. What else. Played with fireworks with my buddy in the slightly intense high-speed wind. Got hit in the head with many pine cones, and avoided decapitation from a flower pot. Lots of gigantic trees fell over, my car and apartment were unscathed. Drove around the Orlando area while the power was out, failed to find a liquor store to loot. Avoided arrest from a curfew I didn't know was in effect. I slowly withered and died in the heat of my apartment until 8 PM the next night, then the power came back on and I flipped on the A/C. That's the end of the story I think. Yep. m00t!

Most of the damage was done to trailer homes and businesses that were too dumb to board up their windows. That, and the power grid got screwed cuz of trees falling on the lines. Keep losing the phone lines around here. But yeah. It was a major disappointment.

Apparently the power was out for a few days, some huge trees got blown over blocking roads, some damage to houses, etc,. She took some pictures but she has no internet still, so she can't email them. When she does though, i'll try to upload them to my site, they should be pretty interesting.
