Title: Another Apple Patent
Post by: BTs_Mysterio on August 14, 2004, 06:42:02 am
"Apple submits patent for "chameleonic" enclosure ...
Apple submitted a patent application in February to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for a computer enclosure that changes color depending on user settings or the system's current state or system actions. The "Active enclosure for computing device" features embedded LEDs that can be used to change the color of the computer housing. Dubbed a "chameleonic electronic device," the patent notes that the casing and multicolor LEDs could be uniquely positioned or the intensities changed to vary coloration, create an outward design (spots/stripes), make a portion of the housing "glow" or simply light the outline of the casing itself." -MacNN

Cool eh?

They run games fine =p  Its just a question of how picky you are.

Anyhow, that would be so f-ing sweet, i wonder how specific you could change it...for instance, if you had something equating to a 3d image of your computer to which you could apply an image?  Hmmm..the possibilities are endless! Well, almost, but you know what i mean.

apple's hardware is more then capable. it's a matter of the games being developed specifically for apples hardware and software. you really need to start complaining to some game developers if you wanna get nowhere in the right place.

PCs aren't designed for games. Some PCs made me made for them but those specially branded things cost as much as a G5 that can own them in most. The fact is that the only forms of computer that run games perfectly are Consoles. Nothing else will conquer every game released for it... besides a computer in the $2500-3000 range.

In other news don't forget about the unity engine.

A Computer that could turn into a iTunes visualizer is well worth the money.... in my books.

I think Bronto summed things pefectly, its not apple that has to get their act together its software (gaming) companies that need to start developing games from the ground up for mac, and who knows have it ported it PC :D.  You will see this when Destineer finishes Close Combat :First to Fight, since the game is being made for mac and PC and xbox and all released at the sametime.  Dont mis-understand, this is not a port to Mac, this game has also been coded specifically for Mac, as well as PC, etc.

PC's aren't designed for games. Games are designed for PC's.

Crypt, slowly they are becoming more console centered than PC centered.

Nomad, don't forget about the unity engine.

Nomad, don't forget about the unity engine.

Does that mean what engine the game has been made/runs on?

I dont think apple cares about kids who play games and adults that still have the kid in em'. their focus is more on design work. quit bitching and go play on your pc.

Kuza, for the last time it's not hardware, and it isn't OS. It's the porters/developers of the games who screw things up.
